Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Neal Brewer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and James Earl (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Neal Brewer has a significant reach advantage - let's see if he can make it count.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 2, fighting out of Montreal, Neal Brewer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, James Earl!
The judges for this bout are Yves DeLean, William Peck and Steve Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Earl with a poor takedown
and Brewer counters with a three punch combo that has Earl backing up. Earl nods at Brewer to acknowledge the strikes.
Brewer shoots in looking for a takedown but Earl manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Brewer's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Earl looks for a takedown but Brewer sprawls well.
Brewer dives in for a single leg takedown but Earl sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Brewer gets cracked there but stands up to it.


It looks like Neal Brewer has been cut.
Earl shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Brewer pinned against the cage. Brewer gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Neal Brewer has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of James Earl.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Brewer moves into the clinch.

Earl's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Brewer dives in for a single leg takedown but Earl sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Brewer is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Earl is just riding it out for now. Brewer eventually gives up the hold.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Brewer is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Earl makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Earl.

Earl is looking for a triangle here but Brewer uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Brewer is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Earl knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Earl is looking for a sweep.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Earl is letting Brewer control him for a moment.
Earl is looking for a sweep.
Earl manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Brewer slips a nice elbow through Earl's hands, connecting with Earl's forehead.

Brewer is working for a submission of some sort.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Earl pushes Brewer off but Brewer dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Brewer shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Earl as he avoids it easily.
Earl will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Earl has taken the fight to the clinch.
Earl is looking to take this one to the mat.
Brewer is trying to break the clinch but Earl has him pressed against the cage.
Brewer tries to break free but Earl pushes him back against the cage.
Brewer is trying to push Earl away but Earl has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Earl jumps guard and drags Brewer to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Brewer throws a big elbow that misses.

Brewer controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Brewer stops Earl from standing up.
Earl is breathing heavily.

Brewer preventing the sweep.
Brewer postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Earl seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Brewer fails with the takedown.
Earl looks like he wants to counter punch here.
Brewer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Earl but Earl pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Earl keeps control of Brewer as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Earl is pushing Brewer up against the cage, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Earl keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Brewer's efforts to push away.
Brewer wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Earl tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Earl jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Brewer walks away with a smile on his face. Earl gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Earl has done a lot of speed work in the buildup to this fight.

Earl stuffs the takedown.

Earl tries to keep at a distance but Brewer has taken the fight into the clinch.
Earl is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Brewer is defending well for now.
Brewer is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.
Earl has Brewer pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Brewer manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Earl has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Brewer after a bit of a struggle.

Brewer is looking to control Earl's arms but Earl gets an underhook and turns him. Now Brewer has his back to the cage.

Brewer tries to circle away but Earl has him pinned against the cage.
Brewer has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.

Ooooh, nice body kick lands from Earl. Brewer shrugs it off though.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Brewer defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Earl.
Earl stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Earl wants it to stay on the feet.
Brewer connects with a jab.

James Earl showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


Brewer misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Earl drops down looking to force a counter takedown but Brewer defends it well.
Brewer looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Earl shoots in and drives through. Brewer sprawls well.

Earl kicks off Brewer and gets to his feet.

Earl thows a body kick. Brewer tries to catch it but that hurt him.
Earl takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.

Earl pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Brewer tries a head kick but it misses.

Earl gets tackled into the cage by Brewer. Brewer maintains the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Brewer's face as he tries to break the clinch.

Brewer breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Brewer doesn't manage to clinch there - Earl circles away.

Brewer wants to get back to striking at distance but Earl won't allow it.
Earl drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Brewer gets the underhooks and prevents it.

Brewer manages to break the clinch.

Brewer keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Brewer thinks about countering with a head kick.

Brewer drives through with a takedown into guard.
Earl is trying to control the position but Brewer postures up.

Earl has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Brewer is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Earl.

Earl is trying to get back to half guard.
Earl is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Brewer is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Brewer takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Brewer wants to control the pace but Earl is squirming around nicely.

Brewer looking to ground and pound his opponent to a finish here.
Earl is desperately trying to get back to half guard.
Brewer wants to control the pace but Earl is squirming around nicely.

Brewer has hold of Earl's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Earl manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Earl manages to regain half guard. Good work.

Well Brewer has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
