Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Lucas Campos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jan Kriel! The judges for this bout are Seu Braga, Leandro Rodrigues and Felipe Paraventi.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Campos moves into the clinch. Kriel misses with a knee strike.
Our sources have told us that Campos has been working on his knees in the buildup to the fight. Kriel lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Campos backwards. Campos tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Campos pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Kriel avoids the body shot from Campos.
A nice side step and Kriel releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home. Campos looks for a takedown but Kriel sprawls well. Kriel stuffs the takedown attempt from Campos. Campos gets slowly back to his feet. Kriel appears to be waiting to throw a counter punch to the body. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Lucas Campos. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kriel displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Campos. Kriel swings away with a counter right hand but no contact made. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kriel cracks Campos with an open hand slap.

Campos pulls guard effortlessly. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Kriel wants to control from the top but Campos keeps moving. Campos wants to sweep but no luck. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Campos is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent. Campos has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Kriel can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself. Campos is pulling down on Kriel's head to control his posture. That's two minutes gone in the round. Kriel tries to stand but Campos is controlling from the bottom. Kriel sitting in guard, not really doing much. Campos is looking for a triangle but Kriel pushes his legs off easily.

Kriel not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work. Campos looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Campos drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Campos jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position. Campos stands and throws Kriel's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kriel is not content to let Campos control the position. Campos goes for an armbar! This could be all over! Wait, no, Kriel rolls with the submission and now he's on top in Campos's guard! Nice work there by Kriel! Campos looking for a sweep. Not yet Campos, not yet.

Campos throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Kriel escapes and throws Campos's legs to the side, diving into side control! Campos tries to improve position but can't. Kriel working away. Kriel wants to control but Campos is keeping him busy. Kriel blocks the strikes from Campos.

That's two minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kriel is pressing down on Campos's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it. Campos passes into half guard. Campos is trying to control. Kriel wants to improve his position but can't escape this time. Lucas Campos overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far. Kriel slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work. Campos postures up as if he's going to throw some strikes but drops back for an ankle! Kriel is in big trouble! He looks ready to tap! But no, he's escaped and dives on top of Campos, into his guard. Kriel tries to stand but Campos is controlling from the bottom.

That was a close second round but I would say that Lucas Campos will probably get the nod. The cut man is working on Lucas Campos's cut. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!

Campos is rocked! Kriel walks forward and throws a big overhand right! Campos drops to the floor like a sack of potatoes! Kriel swarms on him with more punches until the referee wrestles him away from Campos's unconscious body! Wow, that was brutal!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jan Kriel! A very excited looking Jan Kriel rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
