PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Sandor Clegane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jucal Jabneel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 16 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Sandor Clegane!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jucal Jabneel!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Colin Fotheringham and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jabneel throws a wild body kick that Clegane sees coming a mile off.
Clegane seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance.
Clegane throws a body kick that misses.
Jabneel tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Clegane keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Clegane is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Jabneel throws a body punch but Clegane moves out of range.
Jabneel takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Sandor Clegane seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jabneel takes the fight into the clinch.
Clegane tries to work over Jabneel's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Clegane is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Jabneel to keep the fight standing.
Clegane works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.

Clegane pulls guard effortlessly.
Clegane is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Clegane bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Jabneel's guard.

Jabneel wants to sweep here but Clegane controlling him for the moment.
Jabneel is looking to sweep but instead, Clegane has passed into half guard.

Jabneel is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Jabneel wants to hit a switch here but Clegane passes into full mount! Oh no, disaster for Jabneel there!

Clegane seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jabneel does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Clegane accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A head kick misses from Jabneel.

Jabneel looks to land a body kick but Clegane moved away.
Clegane is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from Jabneel.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jabneel misses with a low kick.
Clegane is looking to counter the offense by Jabneel and move into the clinch.
Clegane doesn't manage to clinch there - Jabneel circles away.
Clegane scores with a punch to the head.
Jabneel shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sandor Clegane dominated that round.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Clegane connects with a good right hand that stumbles Jabneel. Jabneel circles away out of range and recomposes himself.
Jabneel misses the jab.
Clegane closes this distance looking for a takedown but Jabneel circles away.
Clegane is looking to clinch but Jabneel is avoiding it.
Jabneel fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Jabneel moves out of range of the body kick.
Clegane bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Jabneel's head backwards.
Clegane looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Clegane throws a hook but Jabneel blocks it.
A nice side step and Jabneel releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.
Clegane shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Jabneel but Jabneel pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Clegane tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Jabneel scores with a hook to the body.
Jabneel has a couple of punches blocked by Clegane.
Still in the clinch, Jabneel scores with a nice short uppercut.

Clegane digs a right hand into Jabneel's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Jabneel's gas tank.
Clegane tried to land a shot to the body but connects with Jabneel's elbow.
Clegane throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Jabneels head.
Clegane misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Jabneel.

Clegane works on Jabneel's body with a couple of short punches.
Jabneel throws a punch but it's blocked by Clegane.
Jabneel swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Clegane lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Clegane blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Jabneel blocks an elbow strike.
Clegane digs a right hand underneath Jabneel's ribcage. Jabneel let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Jabneel is breathing heavily.
Clegane lands a shot to the body.
It really doesn't seem like the step up in weight is hurting Clegane here at all. He's more than holding his own against the bigger man.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jabneel has a couple of punches blocked by Clegane.
Jabneel takes an elbow to the temple.

Jabneel misses with a short punch on the inside.
Jabneel's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!

Jabneel can't find room to land a body shot as Clegane controls the action.
Clegane is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Jabneel can do to turn this around?
Jabneel throws a punch but it's blocked by Clegane.

Clegane is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.

Clegane jumps into guard, dragging Jabneel to the mat.
Jabneel makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.
Jabneel wants to pass the guard but Clegane is keeping the position.
Jabneel is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Clegane wants to sweep here but Jabneel controlling him for the moment.
My spies in Montreal Elite Gym inform me that Jabneel has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Clegane manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Jabneel manages to get himself to full guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Jabneel is on top in guard.

Clegane looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.

Clegane is actively looking for submissions from his back. He's worked himself a little space on the bottom and seems to be going for a triangle. No, he's switched into an armbar! That was slick! Jabneel rolls with it to try and escape but Clegane cranks on the arm and Jabneel is forced to tap out! This one is aaaaaaaaall over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:36 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Sandor Clegane!
Sandor Clegane opened up his post fight interview with a scream to camera that he wants a title shot! Whether he deserves the shot will be up to the management of the organization, so I guess he'll have to wait and see.
