Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Lucius Bean (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Alfred Corey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Lucius Bean!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Alfred Corey!
The judges for this bout are Elvis Blanc, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Bean has closed the distance and engaged Corey in a clinch.
Corey's coach down at Island Impact was telling us pre-fight that they have been working on Corey's balance. Obviously they view that as a key factor in the outcome of this fight.

Bean manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Corey landing with the ground and pound.
Corey controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Corey trying to control the position from guard on top but Bean is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Corey throwing strikes from guard but Bean blocks nicely.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corey seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Bean really is a fat lump.

Bean thows some rabbit punches from the bottom but they don't do any damage.

Corey stands up from Bean's guard - Corey perhaps looking for a knockout.

Bean gets tackled into the cage by Corey. Corey maintains the clinch.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Corey as Bean tries to tie him up.

Bean breaks from the clinch.
Corey fails with the takedown
and Bean counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Bean throws a head kick that misses.

Bean closes the distance and pushes Corey back into the cage.
Bean jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Corey walks away with a smile on his face. Bean gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Corey rushes Bean and presses him up against the cage.

Corey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Bean uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Corey.
Bean throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Corey shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Bean thinks about countering with a head kick.
A head kick misses from Bean.
Corey tries to counter with a clinch but Bean shakes him off and moves away.
Corey fails with the takedown.
Lucius Bean has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Alfred Corey.

Corey moves into the clinch.

Corey pulls guard effortlessly.
Bean throws a strike but Corey rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Corey content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Bean lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Bean is standing up over Corey. Corey looks to escape but Bean dives into side control.
Check out the look on Bean's face as he threw that strike - that's one determined fighter!

Bean wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Corey, who protects the arm well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Corey can do anything to dispel that myth.
Corey is not in a great position here, taking some shots.
Bean wants to lay and pray for a moment but Corey keeps working.
Bean working the ground and pound but Corey is defending the strikes.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
You can see the frustration on Corey's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Bean thuds his right hand into Corey's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.

Bean goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Bean wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Alfred Corey is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Corey looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Corey fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Bean throws a body kick, spinning off balance
and Corey makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

Corey looks for a takedown but Bean sprawls well.
Corey just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromBean.
A head kick from Bean lands but Corey takes it in his stride.
Bean pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Bean stuffs the takedown attempt from Corey. Corey gets slowly back to his feet.
Alfred Corey seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bean throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.

Corey gets a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Bean regains full guard. Nicely done.
Corey must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Corey stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Bean swivels though and keeps the full guard.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Bean stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Bean wants it to stay on the feet.
Corey's corner calls for a 1, 2 combination and Corey duly obliges.
Corey throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Bean's waist but Bean gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Corey off to one side.
Corey is breathing heavily.

Corey rushes Bean and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Bean fails to pull guard.

Bean gets control of Corey's arms and successfully pulls guard. Bean will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Corey with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Bean wants to get back to his feet but Corey is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Corey breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Corey moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.


It looks like Lucius Bean has been cut.
Bean tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lucius Bean is winning the standup battle so far.
Corey looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Bean is fending him off so far but Corey persists. Nope, Bean circles away and we're back to standing.

Bean tries to keep at a distance but Corey has taken the fight into the clinch.

Corey pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Bean has Corey up against the cage in a clinch.

Corey decides to pull guard.

Corey pushes Bean off and scrambles back to his feet.

Corey misses with a takedown attempt - Bean sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
Corey will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Bean is looking to counter with head kicks.

Corey clinches up against the cage.
Bean is trying to pull guard but Corey has him pressed against the cage.
Bean jumps guard but Corey stands there with Bean around his waist. Bean gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.

Bean sets himself, and Corey steps forward looking for the clinch! Bean avoids it this time.
Corey doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.

Bean breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Bean tries to pull guard but Corey won't allow it.
Bean jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Corey walks away with a smile on his face. Bean gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Corey shoots in for a takedown but Bean shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
Corey scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
Bean displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Corey.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Bean thinks about countering with a head kick.
Bean lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.

Corey has managed to clinch.

Bean has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Corey uses from the top position.

Bean is looking for a triangle here but Corey uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Corey decides to stand up, so the ref orders Bean to his feet.

Corey closes the distance and clinches.

Corey wants to stall.

Corey has hold of one of Bean's legs. Bean is fighting the takedown attempt but Corey gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Bean is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Corey wants to control from the top but Bean keeps moving.

Bean working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Corey doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Corey manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Corey is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Alfred Corey comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Bean has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
