The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Irene wants to land a leg kick but Pitoy is out of range.
Pitoy misses with a right hand
and Irene counters with a left and a right that stings Pitoy.
Pitoy lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh.
Pitoy swinging wildly here.
A combination from Pitoy does no damage.
Irene tries to counter by closing the distance.
Pitoy darts in and clinches Irene up against the cage.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pitoy breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Pitoy is looking to clinch but Irene is avoiding it.
Pitoy is looking to clinch.
Irene on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Pitoy throws a combination. Irene tries to block but a couple of punches get through.
It looks like Goodnight Irene has been cut.
Pitoy misses with a jab to the body
and Irene counters with a crisp one two that drops Pitoy! Irene thinks about following him to the mat for a moment but instead steps back and waves Pitoy to his feet! Pitoy is in big trouble!
Pitoy is rocked!
Pitoy misses with a leg kick
and Irene counters with a right, left combo that wobbles Pitoy badly! Irene follows up with a massive right hook, straight to the bridge of the nose that knocks Pitoy out cold! Oh wow, what a finish! Very reminiscent of Koscheck vs Yoshida as Irene finished him against the cage.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Goodnight Irene!
Goodnight Irene was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
