The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Escargesa gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Vasilyevich to score an easy takedown into full guard. Escargesa pushes Vasilyevich off and scrambles back to his feet.

Vasilyevich feints the counter takedown. Vasilyevich ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face. Vasilyevich changes levels for a counter takedown but doesn't follow through with his attempt. Escargesa clinches with his opponent.

We've heard reports from his gym mates at Netherlands Top Team & KT that he's been drilling escapes, so let's see if he can get back to his feet. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Vasilyevich lands a nice short elbow. Vasilyevich thumps the canvas. A close round but Ivan Vasilyevich will probably get the nod. The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.
Vasilyevich shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Vasilyevich was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Escargesa takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Escargesa is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Vasilyevich off and has taken his back! Vasilyevich manages to reverse the position and now he's in Escargesa's guard. Nice work there by Vasilyevich.
Vasilyevich passes into half guard. Ivan Vasilyevich has got the better of the ground game so far. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Escargesa is trying to get back to full guard. Vasilyevich looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights. Vasilyevich passes the guard and advances to mount! The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Vasilyevich cracks Escargesa with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Vasilyevich scoring with strikes but Escargesa is staying in there. Vasilyevich is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Escargesa can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
That's one minute gone in the round. Vasilyevich raining down hammerfists from mount. Vasilyevich lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
Escargesa is rocked! Escargesa is wriggling around trying to escape.
Oh Escargesa is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Vasilyevich landing strikes from the mount. Escargesa is looking to get to half guard. Vasilyevich postures up and throws a massive shot that knocks Escargesa out cold! Two more strikes to his unconscious opponent for good luck and this one is all over! Vasilyevich goes absolutely crazy with his corner! Wow, you can see how much that win means to him!
