Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Derrick James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jack McVitie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Derrick James! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jack McVitie! The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Frank Dennis.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! McVitie tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but James defends well and McVitie ends up having to push James into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. James looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger. James connects with a high kick.
It looks like Jack McVitie has been cut. McVitie tries for a takedown but James circles away easily and McVitie takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. McVitie misses with a series of wild punches.
James fails with an attempt to clinch.
A head kick misses from James. James swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Good standup being displayed there by McVitie as he connects with a hook. McVitie stuffs the takedown attempt from James. James gets slowly back to his feet. James tries a head kick but it misses.
McVitie gets the takedown into side control. James bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet! This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! Jack McVitie seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. No luck with that takedown attempt from James. McVitie blocks a head kick by James.
That's one minute gone in the round. McVitie looks to land a combination but James avoids it well. James displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McVitie. Derrick James has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jack McVitie. James stuffs the takedown. James throws a big counter combination but McVitie scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. James shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. James closes this distance looking for a takedown but McVitie circles away. James is breathing heavily. McVitie misses with a few strikes there.
James dives in for a single leg takedown but McVitie sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. McVitie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
McVitie lands a right hook to the body.
McVitie scores with a jab to the body. We've been told by James's head coaches at Mist Of Pandaria that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight. James tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but McVitie paws at him with a jab and circles away. And an attempted straight right on the counter from McVitie! But no joy. James has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him. James slips a jab and a cross from McVitie.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff! McVitie misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
That's two minutes gone in the round. McVitie moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot. James closes this distance looking for a takedown but McVitie circles away. McVitie getting the better of the striking in that exchange. McVitie throws a right and a left that both miss. James takes one on the button. McVitie closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into James's guard. McVitie lands a couple of decent looking shots. McVitie must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. McVitie is looking to work some ground and pound but James has wrist control. McVitie working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. James utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. McVitie throwing strikes but missing. McVitie is working James over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes. McVitie with a flurry of punches that miss. McVitie throws a big right hand that misses.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
That's three minutes gone in the round. McVitie stalks James and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into James's face. James staggers backwards, shaken. McVitie looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. James dodges the punch combination from McVitie.
No joy there for James, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
McVitie is looking for the big counter here. Jab, cross, leg kick. Nice combination by McVitie!
McVitie scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!
James takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
A head kick by James misses and McVitie counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. This has been an exciting period of action! McVitie connects with a right hand. James shakes it off. McVitie scores with a three punch combo!
James is rocked! McVitie throws a 1-2 combo that connects squarely on James's jaw, knocking him onto his back! McVitie dives in looking to finish as James flails his arms in a desperate attempt to block McVitie's strikes! McVitie is raining down hammerfists and the ref stops it! James's desperate flailing just didn't constitute intelligent defence. Some people will probably question the ref's decision but James was definitely hurt and the ref saved him from taking unnecessary punishment. A fighter's safety is paramount in this sport.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jack McVitie!
