Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Shane Myres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Oddweek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Oddweek! The judges for this bout are Tiny Johnson, Alan Glass and Stewart Dunkirk.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Oddweek closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Myres did well to prevent Oddweek getting side control. Myres actively working from the bottom here. Oddweek keeping composed on the top, looking to control the action. Oddweek really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Myres. John Oddweek dominated that round. The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!
Oddweek bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control. Myres is trying to improve his position. Oddweek is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Myres is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Myres manages to land a sweep and he's now on top! Lovely Jiu Jitsu! Oddweek is looking for a sweep. Myres is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position. Myres is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Oddweek is just riding it out for now. Myres eventually gives up the hold. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Myres prevents Oddweek from standing back up.

Oddweek doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Myres. Oddweek wants to improve his position but Myres is controlling well.

No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Myres thinks about going for a leg but decides against it, in order to maintain the position. Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Myres sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Oddweek's guard. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Oddweek can do anything to dispel that myth. Oddweek is controlling Myres's trapped leg to prevent Myres from advancing to side control. Myres wants to work for an arm triangle but Oddweek is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.
Oddweek is trying to maintain the position but Myres is very close to passing his half guard. Myres is working for a kimura but Oddweek is defending it quite comfortably.
Oddweek has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Myres is working away from the top position though. Myres is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Myres enables Oddweek to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Myres manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat. Oddweek cracks Myres with a solid left hand. Myres has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Oddweek should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Myres has tightened it up now! Oddweek should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
