PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gerald Minor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Arshnoor Singh (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Singh has chosen 2Pac - Hit 'Em Up as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Both fighter's entrance songs getting the crowd jumping here.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Gerald Minor!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 39 - 20 - 2, fighting out of Las Vegas, Arshnoor Singh!
The judges for this bout are Chris Downing, George Francis and Cecil Peabody.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Minor wants to clinch up but Singh keeps it at a distance.
Minor misses with a wild body shot.
Gerald Minor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Singh ducks under a wild hook from Minor.
Singh throws a nice inside leg kick.
Singh misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Minor.
Minor throws a hook but Singh avoids it easily.
Minor throws a hook but Singh blocks it.
Nice takedown defense from Singh. No joy for Minor on that attempt.
Minor lands a nice shot to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Singh throws the left hand but Minor avoids the punch easily.
Minor definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Minor throws a hook to the side of Singh's head but Singh sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.

Minor throws the left hand but Singh avoids the punch easily.

Singh is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Minor walks into a jab.
A bone on bone clash there as Minor blocks the leg kick.
As Singh backs away, Minor returns fire with a leg kick that just misses.
Singh scores with a jab to the head.
Singh misses the shot to the body.
Minor misses with an uppercut. Singh saw that one coming.

Singh lands a glancing blow to the side of Minor's head.
Minor uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Singh.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Minor tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Singh defends well and Minor ends up having to push Singh into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Minor moves out of range of the body kick from Singh.
Minor tries to close the distance and clinch up but Singh swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Singh throws a body kick that misses.
Minor drops down looking for a counter takedown but Singh sprawls and moves away.
Singh fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Minor.
Good work by Singh as he checks the leg kick.

The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Singh checks a leg kick.
Minor throws a low kick, looking for Singh's leg but Singh calmly moves out of range.

Minor gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Singh.
Singh scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

Minor decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Minor throws a big elbow that misses, also allowing Singh to regain full guard.

Singh managing to control the position.
Minor is looking to work some ground and pound but Singh has wrist control.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Minor postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Minor working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
Minor not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Minor closes the distance and clinches up with Singh, looking for a takedown. Minor pushes Singh against the cage but Singh circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gerald Minor. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Minor fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Singh on the side of the head.
Minor throws a body shot but no joy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Arshnoor Singh will probably get the nod.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Singh avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Minor ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Minor checks a leg kick nicely.
Minor shoots in looking for a takedown. Singh tries to sprawl out of it but Minor keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Singh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Singh was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

Minor takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.

and Minor counters with a single leg into guard. Singh didn't expect that.

Minor has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Minor wants to control from the top but Singh keeps moving.
Singh wants to sweep here but Minor controlling him for the moment.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Minor lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Singh is looking to stand up but Minor isn't so interested in that idea.
Minor chips away with some ground and pound.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Singh is on top in guard.

Minor is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Minor is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Minor might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.

Minor throws out a leg kick but Singh moves out of range and Minor only half commits.
Singh doesn't fully commit to the body shot counter.
Singh pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Singh lands an overhand right.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

and Singh counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Minor thinking.
Singh avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Singh! But no joy.
Singh wants to land a leg kick but Minor is out of range.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Arshnoor Singh showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Minor throws an overhand right that lands on Singh's shoulder, as Singh tries to avoid the shot.

Minor feints and as Singh raises his hands in defense, Minor changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Gerald Minor overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Singh wants to stand up but Minor is controlling him.

Minor throws an elbow that misses. Singh uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Minor's guard. Nice move by Singh!

Singh not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Arshnoor Singh is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Singh slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
You can see the frustration on Minor's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Singh. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.

A lull in the action here as Singh stalls from top position.
Singh tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Minor's jab looks to have found its range, popping Singh under the eye.
We've been informed that Singh has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Singh misses with a leg kick.
Minor appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Minor throws a shot from downtown. Singh moves away and avoids it.

Minor fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Singh, pushing him back against the cage.

Singh can't find room to land a body shot as Minor controls the action.
Minor is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Singh is defending well for now.
Minor misses with a shot to the kidneys.
Gerald Minor has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Minor struggles to land a body shot inside as Singh controls his hands.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Minor tries to land a knee to the body but he is off balance and Singh avoids it.
Singh swings wildly with an uppercut but Minor uses good head movement to avoid it.
A head punch on the inside from Minor fails to land.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Gerald Minor.
I think Singh has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
