PBP Commentary |
Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jay Doom (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Fighter One (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the prize buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jay Doom! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Fighter One! The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Doom lands a really nice looking cross but One seems unphased.
A lazy left from Doom finds it's target. One on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere. Doom with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
Doom lands a lovely overhand right. One wants to clinch but Doom slips to the side and Doom counters with a nice uppercut. Doom has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by One. Doom fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches One on the side of the head. One rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Doom moves out of range and avoids them all easily. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Doom is looking to slow One down with leg kicks. One swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Doom counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw. One changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Doom tries to avoid it but One manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Doom to the ground. Doom escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Doom swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect. A nice leg kick lands there from Doom. Doom works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance. One walks into a stiff left hand from Doom.
That's one minute gone in the round. One shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Doom sprawls well. Doom wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. One gets slowly back to his feet. Doom scoring well with a low kick there.
One stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Doom. Doom circles away from the clinch attempt.
A good leg kick by Doom. Doom tries to sprawl but One drives through with a takedown into half guard. One is just content to waste time from the top position. Doom takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard. One is looking to pass into half guard but Doom pushes him away with his feet and jumps on top - now Doom is in guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Doom sitting in guard, not really doing much. One is trying to control the position from the bottom.
One wants to stand but Doom is controlling the position. One wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Doom manages to pass to side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. One trying to hold on to Doom's head to control him but Doom postures up.
One taking some punishment here, with Doom in his half guard. One is trying to get back to full guard. Doom content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. One is looking to escape. One is trying to control but can't.
Doom controlling the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. One tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Doom was well out of range. Poor timing from One. Doom scores with a shot to the body.
Doom stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Doom wants it to stay on the feet. Jay Doom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fighter One. One tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Doom paws at him with a jab and circles away. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Jay Doom dominated that round. The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.
One throws a sloppy head kick and Doom counters with a straight right hand. No luck with that takedown attempt from One. One closes the distance and clinches up with Doom, looking for a takedown. One pushes Doom against the cage but Doom circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. One fails with the takedown letting Doom counter with a right hand. Jay Doom has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Fighter One. One takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt. One takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
A slapping leg kick lands for Doom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. One's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Doom connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! One scrambles back to his feet. One on the wrong end of a kick to the body.
Doom throws a mid kick that lands with a slap. One is breathing heavily. Doom cracks One with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! Doom connects with a single shot there.
That's one minute gone in the round. Doom lands a big right hand that sends One crashing to the mat! Doom stays standing though and waves One back to his feet!
One is rocked! One looks up at the clock. Bad move! Doom lands a right hand from hell, dropping One. Doom pounces and finishes the fight with a flurry of punches and elbows.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:14 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jay Doom! Jay Doom gave a mention to FinnFighter Nutrition (Five 160Q supps!) in his post fight interview. That will please them (and hopefully generate some sales).
