PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between CLB Christian (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Chad Kopperman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Christian comes to the cage accompanied by Kid Rock - American Bad Ass. On his way into the cage it seems that CLB Christian has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily CLB Christian seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, CLB Christian!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Chad Kopperman!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Frank Dennis and Chris Downing.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Christian slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.

Christian drives through with a really nice takedown into side control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Christian throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.
Kopperman manages to work his way to half guard, despite Christian's best efforts.
Kopperman is controlling Christian's position as best he can from this difficult position.

Christian is working for a kimura but Kopperman is defending it quite comfortably.
Christian tries to pass to full mount but Kopperman defends it.
Kopperman makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Kopperman.

Kopperman working a defensive guard but Christian passes into half guard.

Kopperman wants to improve his position but Christian is controlling well.
Christian really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Christian thows a huge punch but Kopperman dodges it nicely.
Kopperman wants to stand back up but Christian manages to pass into side control.

Christian thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Kopperman is looking to regain half guard here but Christian keeps moving and retains side control.
Kopperman striking from the bottom but nothing landed.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kopperman closes the distance and lands a one-two.


It looks like CLB Christian has been cut.

Christian feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Christian stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kopperman swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Christian is breathing heavily.
Kopperman throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Kopperman is looking to stand up but Christian isn't so interested in that idea.
Christian slips nicely into half guard.

Christian blocks the strikes from Kopperman.

Kopperman is defending against the submission attempts here by Christian.
Kopperman gets full guard.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Kopperman keeping moving, preventing Christian from controlling successfully.
Christian wants to pass the guard but Kopperman is keeping the position.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Kopperman cracks the inside of Christian's front leg.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that CLB Christian will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on CLB Christian's cut.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Kopperman throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Christian feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to Kopperman's calf.
Kopperman avoids a punch combination nicely.
Christian changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.

Christian shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in full mount! That's better than Christian was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Christian jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Kopperman manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Kopperman wants to control but Christian postures up.
Christian wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kopperman keeps working.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Kopperman tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Christian presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!
Christian cracks Kopperman with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.

Christian stands up from the dominant position. He obviously fancies his chances standing.
Kopperman tries to clinch but Christian moves out of range.
Christian swats away the attempt to clinch by Kopperman.
Christian throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Kopperman throws a left and a right that both miss
and Christian counters with a big head kick but Kopperman shrugs it off.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kopperman on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Kopperman rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Christian moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Kopperman clinches but Christian breaks the clinch

and Christian counters by clinching up.
Kopperman wants to get back to striking at distance but Christian won't allow it.

Christian decides to pull guard.
Kopperman trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat.

Christian working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kopperman doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kopperman manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Kopperman gets to his feet. Christian looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Christian has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Kopperman.

Christian clinches up with Kopperman and pushes him back against the cage.
Christian goes for a takedown attempt but Kopperman pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Kopperman misses with a hook. Christian ducked under it nicely.
Christian throws a head kick but Kopperman moves out of range.
Christian looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kopperman is fending him off so far but Christian persists. Nope, Kopperman circles away and we're back to standing.
Kopperman throws a left and a right that both miss

and Christian decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kopperman's guard.

Kopperman manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Kopperman controlling the pace for now.
Kopperman tries to control but Christian wriggling away.
Kopperman misses with some ground and pound and Christian recovers position to half guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

CLB Christian dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on CLB Christian's cut.
That's time! Christian's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.


Christian looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

and Christian counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Christian.
Christian tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Kopperman just stands there and leans against the cage.
Kopperman lands a body shot in the clinch.
Kopperman stalls.

Christian manages to break the clinch.
Christian throws a combination that misses

and Kopperman counters by clinching up.
Christian wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Christian scores a nice knee to the body.
Kopperman misses with a short punch on the inside.

Christian breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Christian shoots for a double leg takedown but Kopperman sprawls well. He's pushed Christian's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for CLB Christian. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Christian changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Kopperman tries to avoid it but Christian manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Kopperman to the ground. Kopperman escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Kopperman closes the distance and clinches.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Christian has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Kopperman avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Kopperman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
CLB Christian is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Christian darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Christian seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Kopperman does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Christian stops Kopperman from getting back to his feet.

Christian is trying to work for a kimura but Kopperman is defending well.
Christian thows a huge punch but Kopperman dodges it nicely.

Christian decides to stand up and try his luck on the feet.
Kopperman gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily

and Christian counters with a takedown into side control.

Christian is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Kopperman knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Kopperman is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Kopperman wants to control but Christian postures up.

Kopperman is trying to work for a sweep but Christian has mounted him!

Christian is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Kopperman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.
Kopperman tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Kopperman is trying to reverse the position but instead Christian has taken his back - oops!

Christian is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Kopperman knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Kopperman for a finish.
