Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Mario Barrera (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Marv Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Marv Miller struggled to make weight for this fight. He only made it down to 207.0lbs at the first attempt and had to take the additional two hours to make the official bout weight. Let's see how much it's taken out of him. This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mario Barrera! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Marv Miller! The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, Steven Brown and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Barrera fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Miller. Barrera just misses with a punch to the body.
Barrera pulls out of a head kick attempt.
And Miller tries to counter it with a takedown but Barrera pushes his down on his head and steps out. Barrera displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Miller throws out the jab. A quick step to the side and Barrera tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect. Miller tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Barrera was well out of range. Poor timing from Miller. Barrera fires out a quick counter leg kick but Miller just manages to avoid it. Barrera throws a quick inside leg kick. Barrera looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Barrera just misses with a punch to the body.
Miller is definitely looking for the counter takedowns here. Miller looks to score with a jab to the body but Barrera is just out of range. Barrera moves out of range as Miller strikes. Nice defenses there by Barrera. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Barrera gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Miller to score an easy takedown into full guard. Barrera is trying to control the position from the bottom.
That's one minute gone in the round. Miller landing some decent shots from guard. Miller postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect. In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Miller working his ground and pound in the gym. Barrera lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Miller keeping moving, preventing Barrera from controlling successfully. Barrera preventing the sweep. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Barrera content to stall in guard here. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Miller can do anything to dispel that myth. Barrera stands up from Miller's guard - Barrera perhaps looking for a knockout.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Barrera fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Miller. A telegraphed right hand from Barrera misses the target. Barrera misses with a leg kick and Miller counters with a stiff right hand. Mario Barrera is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Barrera connects with a crisp jab. Miller shoots in looking for a takedown but Barrera manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Miller's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Miller takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Miller throws the left hand but Barrera avoids the punch easily.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Barrera drops Miller with a beautiful combination! Miller stares up at his opponent, who ushers him back to his feet - Barrera is looking for the KO!
Miller is rocked! Miller takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Miller is still on wobbly legs! Can Barrera finish him? Barrera lands a head shot. Barrera throws a big shot that misses. Barrera lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range. Miller seems to have recovered his senses. Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show! Barrera slips a jab from Miller. Barrera sends Miller crashing to the mat with a devastating uppercut! Barrera is motioning to the referee to let Miller up. He wants to try and finish this one on the feet! Miller keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Barrera ducks under a wild hook from Miller. Barrera feinted there with a counter leg kick. Barrera throws a left and a right that both miss
and Miller counters with a straight right hand. Miller throws a series of punches but Barrera moves out of range. Miller on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Miller lands with a cross. Miller misses with a hook
and Barrera counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Barrera defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Miller. Barrera lands a leg kick. The shin dug right into the meat of the thigh. Barrera connects with the punch. Barrera drops Miller with a straight right hand, right on the button! Barrera follows him down to the mat and pounds him out with hammerfists until the referee jumps in to end the fight!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:37 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Mario Barrera!
