Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erik Norman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Quentin ONeal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Quentin ONeal will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Erik Norman! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Quentin ONeal! The judges for this bout are Skip Squint, Darius Henderson and Topper Green.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! ONeal lands an overhand right. Quentin ONeal seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. ONeal looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Norman! Norman throws ONeal to one side and escapes! Norman will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. ONeal looking to score a takedown here. Norman is defending well but ONeal drives through and ends up in Norman's guard. ONeal must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so! ONeal is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position. ONeal is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there. ONeal pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Norman is keeping the position for now. ONeal won't allow Norman to sweep him here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Norman controls ONeal momentarily but ONeal frees himself. ONeal stopping the sweep attempt from Norman. Norman is working hard here to advance position. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. ONeal scores with a decent looking elbow strike. ONeal stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Norman swivels though and keeps the full guard. Norman is looking for a triangle but ONeal pushes his legs off easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Norman looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but ONeal puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard. ONeal prevents Norman from standing back up.

Norman gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game. Norman misses with a takedown attempt and ONeal counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. ONeal closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Norman quickly recovers to half guard. Norman has one foot on ONeal's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet. Norman defends well against a solid takedown attempt from ONeal. Norman closes the distance and clinches up with ONeal, looking for a takedown. Norman pushes ONeal against the cage but ONeal circles to the side and manages to break the clinch. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Erik Norman. That's going to take a lot out of him. Norman tries for a takedown but ONeal circles away easily and ONeal counters with a series of strikes. Norman will be more careful next time no doubt.
That's four minutes gone in the round. We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out! ONeal fails to land the takedown. Nice takedown defense from ONeal. No joy for Norman on that attempt. ONeal darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Norman is trying to get back to full guard. ONeal looks to score some points with some ground and pound. ONeal is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Norman keeps the fight on the outside. A solid body kick from ONeal. Norman stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Norman wants it to stay on the feet. Norman is trying to close the distance and clinch up, after that failed offence from ONeal. Norman fails with the takedown and ONeal moves into the clinch. ONeal doesn't land with the attempted body shot.
ONeal breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. ONeal tries to close the distance and clinch up but Norman swats him away and circles back towards the center. As ONeal backs away, Norman returns fire with a leg kick that just misses. Norman throws a combination but it was largely blocked by ONeal. Quentin ONeal is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. ONeal shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Norman as he avoids it easily. ONeal is breathing heavily. Norman tries to clinch but ONeal moves out of range.

Norman is trying to get an arm triangle but ONeal is defending well. Norman wants to lay and pray for a moment but ONeal keeps working. ONeal trying to control but Norman flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back! Norman is landing with strikes from the back. Norman controls the action. Erik Norman overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Norman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. Norman punishes ONeal with strikes from the back mount. Norman is working hard for the rear naked choke here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Norman just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.

As ONeal looks to move away, Norman throws a big counter combo but ONeal just gets out of the way. Norman moves into the clinch. ONeal tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Norman just stands there and leans against the cage. Erik Norman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Quentin ONeal. Norman gets control of ONeal's arms and successfully pulls guard. Norman will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back. Norman wants to sweep but no luck. ONeal throws a big elbow that misses. Norman is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. ONeal wants to control from the top but Norman keeps moving.

The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Norman lands a nice short elbow. ONeal is looking for a sweep. Norman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Norman controlling the pace. ONeal has hold of Norman's hands but Norman slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow. Norman is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Norman is keeping good posture, landing some ground and pound. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Norman looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding. ONeal is looking to improve his position.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
