Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Clayton Cote!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Madi Sunda!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Yukihiro Yamamoto and Shigeki Fujiwara.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sunda manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Cote on his heels. He'll look to pass Cote's guard now, I'm sure.
Cote controls Sunda momentarily but Sunda frees himself.
Sunda content to stall in guard here.
Cote could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Sunda postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Cote is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Sunda is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Cote throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Sunda escapes and throws Cote's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
You can see the frustration on Cote's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee asks Sunda politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Sunda prefers to stall for the moment though.
Cote knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Sunda on the ground.
Sunda stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Sunda fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Cote shoots in for a takedown but Sunda shows good takedown defense.
Sunda leaves Cote with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Sunda works over Cote's head and body with a nice combination.
It looks like Clayton Cote has been cut.
The fight moves into the clinch position.
Cote gets control of Sunda's arms and successfully pulls guard. Cote will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Cote might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Cote is trying to hold Sunda in close to prevent damage but Sunda has managed to pass into half guard.
Sunda has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.
Cote is working to get back to half guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sunda takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Sunda postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Cote looks a forlorn figure.
Cote tries to hold on but Sunda postures up.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cote is breathing heavily.
Sunda cracks Cote with a nasty head shot there - the crowd let out an audible gasp there, as the noise reverberated around the arena.
Clayton Cote's cut is getting worse.
Sunda content just to control the position here.
The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Sunda cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!
Clayton Cote's cut is bleeding quite badly. He's got to try and protect it.
Sunda controlling from mount.
Cote wants to control but Sunda is having none of it.
That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cote in a bad spot here, taking shots to the head.
Sunda landing strikes from the mount and Cote is in trouble!
Jeez, Clayton Cote's cut is really nasty now. The referee must be thinking about getting that checked.
The referee calls the doctor in to look at Clayton Cote's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:33 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Madi Sunda!
