Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Nikolai Radev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Greg Madison (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Nikolai Radev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 15 - 0, fighting out of London, Nikolai Radev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 12 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Greg Madison!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Chris Saunders and Jeff Smith.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Madison stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Radev.
Madison swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
Madison lands a body shot.

Radev scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Madison is not content to let Radev control the position.
Madison parries the strikes from Radev easily there. Radev is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Madison to escape.
Madison is looking for a sweep.
Madison avoids any damage from the ground and pound of Radev.
Radev misses with the ground and pound.
Radev has improved his flexibility recently so we will have to see if he can use that to his advantage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Madison tries to escape but Radev is in control.

Radev throws a knee to the body but it doesn't do much damage.

Radev has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Madison takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.

Madison manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Radev keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage.

Madison's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Radev moves into range and connects with a jab.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Radev cracks the inside of Madison's front leg.
Madison smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Radev throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Madison sees it coming and avoids it easily.

Madison wants to counter with a clinch but Radev pushes him away.
Boom, another hit is landed. "You're gunna get knocked out" taunts Madison, as that shot connected.
Madison lands an overhand right.
Radev tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Radev will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Radev throws out a token jab with nothing on it.

Madison throws a leg kick that is checked

and Radev counters by clinching up.
Madison throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Radev blocks it with crossed arms.
Radev has Madison pressed against the cage, preventing Madison from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Radev keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Madison's efforts to push away.

Madison escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Radev rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
and Madison counters with a stiff right hand.


Radev is rocked!
Radev tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Radev fakes a couple of low kicks, before throwing one on the third attempt. It connects and Madison has to reset his feet before getting ready to engage.
Greg Madison seems to be getting the better of the standup.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Madison throws a right hand that misses
enabling Radev to counter with a crisp jab.

Madison gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Madison is wriggling around but Radev manages to pass to half guard.

Radev tries to pass the half guard into mount. Madison knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Radev is keen to just control but Madison is a slippery customer.

Madison has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Radev is on him like a limpet, forcing Madison back against the cage.

Madison tries to break free but Radev pushes him back against the cage.
Radev pushes Madison back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.

Madison pushes off and fires off an elbow that misses, before clinching up again, against the cage.
Radev throws a head punch that misses.
Radev is working Madison over against the cage.

Madison is trying to break free.
Radev is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Madison fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Radev.
Radev is looking to chop away at Madison's legs.
It seemed like Madison was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Madison takes a big uppercut there. He seems a bit wobbly but no, he's OK.

Radev lunges at Madison with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Madison's hand.
Madison takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Nice straight punches there by Radev. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Radev.
Radev uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Madison.
Radev fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Madison! But no joy.
Radev uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Madison.

Radev was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Radev uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Madison.
Madison on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!

Nikolai Radev overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Madison decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Radev, up you get!

Madison throws a right and a left that Radev avoids nicely.
Madison loads up on a big right hand but Radev slips the punch.
Radev throws a head kick that Madison semi-blocks.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Nikolai Radev.
Well Radev has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
