PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ippo Hammer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Yuki Noshikawa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hammer kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genuis that is Overkill - Hammerhead. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Ippo Hammer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Yuki Noshikawa!
The judges for this bout are Hirohito Nitta, Yasuomi Hirokawa and Taro Takaoka.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Noshikawa slips a jab and a cross from Hammer.
Hammer throws a head kick that misses.
Noshikawa lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Hammer at a distance.
Hammer connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.
Hammer blocks a jab.
Noshikawa throws a big shot that misses.
Hammer throws a leg kick but Noshikawa moved away.
Noshikawa throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Hammer sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A jab from Noshikawa does it's job there.
Hammer doesn't manage to clinch there - Noshikawa circles away.
Noshikawa cracks Hammer with an open hand slap.
Hammer throws a right and a left that both miss.
Noshikawa misses with a series of wild punches.

Hammer tries to move into range but Noshikawa moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Noshikawa closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Noshikawa should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Despite being in the dominant position, Yuki Noshikawa just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Hammer has closed the distance and engaged Noshikawa in a clinch.

Noshikawa turns his back and goes for a hip toss. It's a bit messy but it gets the job done and Noshikawa manages to end up in side control.

Noshikawa has his opponent pinned against the ropes, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Hammer's face.

I looks like Noshikawa might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Noshikawa closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Noshikawa lands in his opponent's guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Noshikawa shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Hammer is looking for a triangle but Noshikawa pushes his legs off easily.
Noshikawa is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Hammer will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Noshikawa looking to sit in guard and control but Hammer gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Noshikawa wants to control but Hammer is keeping busy.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
