Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Jim Johnsson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of
1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Douglas Costa!
The judges for this bout are Paulo Santos, Seu Braga and Luis Engracia.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Costa needs to keep his hands up - Johnsson had a free shot at his head there.
Johnsson throws a right and a left that both miss.
Johnsson scores with a shot to the body.
A punch combination from Johnsson misses.
Costa tries to close the distance and clinch up but Johnsson swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Johnsson connects with a good straight punch right through the guard and follows up with a right hook and a left hook! That last one sent Costa tumbling to the canvas! Johnsson pours on the pressure with more strikes and the referee has no hesitation diving in to stop the fight! Costa was done - good stoppage!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:18 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Jim Johnsson!
