PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Hari Kunwar (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitchell Brown (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kunwar kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Kills - Future Starts Slow. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Hari Kunwar!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Mitchell Brown!
The judges for this bout are James Ackerman, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kunwar feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Brown is looking for a triangle here but Kunwar uses the submission attempt to pass into side control.

Kunwar is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Brown is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Brown manages to work his way to half guard, despite Kunwar's best efforts.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Kunwar looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Kunwar is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Kunwar moves into side control, avoiding a weak kimura attempt from Brown.

Brown is trying to control Kunwar's posture but Kunwar avoids it.
Brown tries to buck Kunwar off but Kunwar is having none of it.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Kunwar wants to get back to his feet but Brown is holding on tight.
Kunwar can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Brown is looking to escape.

Kunwar jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Brown manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Brown is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Kunwar off and has taken his back!

Kunwar is trying to stand back up.
I really don't envy Kunwar right now.

Brown is persistently looking for the submission but Kunwar is defending it well.
Brown keeps control of the position as Kunwar tries to break free.

Brown is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Kunwar knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Kunwar for a finish.

Brown goes for a risky armbar from back mount and it's not paid off. Kunwar escapes and is now in half guard on top.
Kunwar seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Brown does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Brown has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Kunwar is working away from the top position though.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Kunwar is looking to take a break and control but Brown is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Mitchell Brown seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Kunwar drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.

Kunwar drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Kunwar jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Brown working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Kunwar doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Kunwar manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Kunwar manages to get to his feet, escaping the difficult position.
Kunwar is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Brown can do to turn this around?

Brown shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Kunwar napping and manages to drive through into side control!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Brown stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kunwar swivels though and keeps the full guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Brown darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.

Brown seems to be working for a kimura but Kunwar defends the submission attempt.

Brown looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Brown is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

A close second round but Mitchell Brown will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! And we move into the final round!


Kunwar throws a combination. Brown tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

Brown closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Kunwar to the mat! Kunwar manages to get full guard.

Brown is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Kunwar is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Kunwar has escaped and now he's on top!

Brown has momentary wrist control but Kunwar slips an elbow through the middle.

Kunwar is posturing up here but Brown has hold of an arm and he's gone for an armbar! Kunwar tries to roll out but it's too tight and Kunwar has to tap! Slick submission there by Brown!
