PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Orion Sapporo (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and JJ Jung (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters will be looking to make this an exciting fight for the fans, I'm sure!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Orion Sapporo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, JJ Jung!
The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Sano and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jung with a body punch. A glancing blow.

Jung feints and as Sapporo raises his hands in defense, Jung changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Sapporo is looking for a triangle but Jung pushes his legs off easily.

Sapporo working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Jung doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Jung manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Sapporo is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Sapporo can't keep his opponent in guard - Jung advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Jung controlling the pace.
Jung sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Sapporo defending well though.
Jung wants to pass to mount but Sapporo is defending the position.
Sapporo pushes Jung off looking to stand but Jung dives back in and keeps control.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Jung connects with a nice short shot to Sapporo's temple.
Jung seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Jung prevents Sapporo from improving his position.
Jung takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
Sapporo tries to roll over but Jung keeps him under control.

Jung seems to be looking for submissions.

Sapporo looking for submissions off his back.
Sapporo is breathing heavily.
Jung is nestled in close to Sapporo, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Jung is just sitting in half guard, waiting for something to happen.

Sapporo has one foot on Jung's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.

Sapporo looks for a takedown but Jung sprawls well.
Sapporo misses with a few strikes there.
Orion Sapporo seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Jung drives through with a takedown into guard.
Jung seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Jung trying to control but Sapporo is working from the bottom.
Sapporo is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Jung landing rabbit punches to the side of Sapporo's head. Not doing much damage but still scoring a few points.
Jung is trying to control but can't.
Jung wants to get back to his feet.
Ground and pound from Sapporo.

Jung makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Jung.
Jung working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Sapporo.
Jung is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Sapporo stands up from Jung's guard - Sapporo perhaps looking for a knockout.

Jung shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Jung winds up and cracks Sapporo with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Jung scoring with strikes to the body and head.
Sapporo is trying to get back to full guard.
Jung tries to stand but can't do so whilst Sapporo controls his leg.
Sapporo regains full guard. Nicely done.

Sapporo is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

Sapporo looking for a guillotine here but Jung defends easily.

Sapporo uses the ropes to get back to his feet.
Sapporo lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.


Jung is rocked!


It looks like JJ Jung has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
A head kick misses from Sapporo.

Jung is still on wobbly legs! Can Sapporo finish him?

Jung closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Sapporo looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Sapporo wants to stand back up but Jung manages to pass into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

JJ Jung dominated that round.
The cut man is working on JJ Jung's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Sapporo misses with a few strikes there.
Jung seems to have recovered his senses.
Sapporo misses with a wild combination.
Sapporo stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Jung.
The fight stays on the outside here - Jung looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Jung moves into the clinch successfully.
Sapporo wants to break free but Jung has control.
Jung drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Sapporo has had enough of the clinch but Jung keeps him there for the moment.

Jung escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Jung steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Sapporo.

Jung looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into mount! Oh, that's bad for Sapporo!

Jung looking for a guillotine from mount but Sapporo is having none of it.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Jung wants to control the pace but Sapporo is squirming around nicely.

Jung jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Sapporo manages to avoid the submission attempt.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Jung wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Sapporo, who protects the arm well.
Jung landing strikes.
Sapporo wants to get back to his feet but Jung drags him back down.
Jung working the ground and pound.
Sapporo manages to get back to half guard.
Jung wants to control but Sapporo is keeping him busy.
Sapporo looks like he's trying to stand up.
Sapporo wants to get back to full guard.
Sapporo won't allow Jung to pass to mount.
Sapporo moves into full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Sapporo looking for a sweep. Not yet Sapporo, not yet.
Sapporo wants to improve his position but instead Jung has moved into half guard.

Sapporo has hold of a guillotine but he's not going to be able to crank on it really with only half guard, so it's no trouble for Jung. Oh but Sapporo has got full guard now! Oh boy! This one could be over very soon! Jung goes limp - he's gone! Sapporo jumps up and celebrates with the crowd - fantastic submission finish!
