PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Erik Norman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Shaggy Duck (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Erik Norman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Shaggy Duck!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Darius Henderson and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Duck clinches up against the cage.
Duck keeps control of Norman as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Norman could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Norman jumps guard but Duck turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.
A right handed body shot lands from Duck.

Duck breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Duck lands a big right hand that sends Norman crashing to the mat! Duck stays standing though and waves Norman back to his feet!


It looks like Erik Norman has been cut.
Duck shoots for a takedown but Norman saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Norman swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Duck manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Norman is looking to stand up but Duck won't let him.
Duck is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Duck has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Norman off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Duck misses with a wild combination.

Duck drives through and clinches with Norman against the cage.
Norman is trying to pull guard but Duck turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Norman gets control of Duck's arms and successfully pulls guard. Norman will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Duck gets to his feet. Norman looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

Norman gets tackled into the cage by Duck. Duck maintains the clinch.

Duck has Norman pushed against the cage.
Duck is trying to push Norman away but Norman has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Duck drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Norman keeps control of Duck as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Norman keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Duck's efforts to push away.
Duck wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Norman has him pressed against the cage.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Duck is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Erik Norman has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Shaggy Duck.
A right handed body shot lands from Duck.
Norman swings away with an uppercut that misses.
Norman fails to pull guard.
Duck tries to break the clinch but Norman is controlling the position.
Norman misses with the head strike.
Duck is trying to drag Norman to the mat but Norman just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Norman is fighting off a takedown attempt but Duck is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Norman to the mat. Norman regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Norman is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Duck trying to control the position from guard on top but Norman is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Norman can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Duck controls the pace.
Norman is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Shaggy Duck dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Erik Norman's cut.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Duck swings wildly with a couple of big hooks

and Norman counters by moving into the clinch.
Norman fails to pull the fight into his guard.
Duck lands a nice looking hook to the body, against the cage.

Duck has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Norman uses from the top position.
Duck wants to get back to his feet but Norman is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Duck has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Duck looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Duck can do anything to dispel that myth.
Duck is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Norman wants to control from the top but Duck keeps moving.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Duck will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Duck shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Norman sprawls well. Norman wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Duck gets slowly back to his feet.
Norman tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Duck manages to circle out of the way.

Norman shoots in for a takedown but Duck shows good takedown defense.

Duck drives through and clinches with Norman against the cage.
Norman tries to circle away but Duck has him pinned against the cage.

Duck jumps guard and drags Norman to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Shaggy Duck has got the better of the ground game so far.
Duck lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Norman wants to stand up but Duck is controlling him.

Duck is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Norman is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Duck is controlling him.

Duck stands up from Norman's guard - Duck perhaps looking for a knockout.

Norman gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Duck to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Norman escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Duck gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Duck lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Duck's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Duck works over Norman with some ground and pound from guard.
Duck stays in close to Norman's body and controls the position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Shaggy Duck showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! And we move into the final round!


Duck darts in looking for a takedown but Norman gets double underhooks and turns Duck into the cage.
Norman shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Duck sprawls well. Duck wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Norman gets slowly back to his feet.

Duck shoots in looking for a takedown. Norman tries to sprawl out of it but Duck keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Norman manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Norman is taking a breather. Duck says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Duck on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Duck wants to control but Norman is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Duck tries to kick Norman off but Norman keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Duck is looking to get back to is feet but Norman passes into side control.
Norman lands an elbow.
Duck looks to move to half guard but instead Norman has passed into mount! Damn!
Duck slips a leg in and gets back to half guard.
Duck is looking to improve his position.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Erik Norman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Shaggy Duck is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Norman landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Erik Norman showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Duck has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
