PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Ramses Xll (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dennis Nilsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Xll comes to the cage accompanied by Karl Sanders - Rapture of the Empty Spaces. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ramses Xll!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Dennis Nilsen!
The judges for this bout are Chad Campbell, Russell Pearce and Alyssa Summers.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Xll misses with a head kick.
Xll misses with a straight left.
A telegraphed right hand from Nilsen misses the target.
Xll gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
Xll steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Nilsen.
Xll seems to be moving with more speed, compared to his last bout. He must have been working on that in the gym.
Nilsen throws a lazy right hand but Xll sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Xll throws a big counter combination but Nilsen scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.
Xll with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Nilsen to score with a decent uppercut.
Xll staying out of range there.
Xll looks to land a right hand but Nilsen moved out of range.

Nilsen feints and as Xll raises his hands in defense, Nilsen changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Xll trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Nilsen trying to control the position from guard on top but Xll is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Nilsen sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Xll's guard.
Xll tries to get to full guard but Nilsen has control of the leg.
Nilsen seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Xll does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Nilsen is looking for a kimura but Xll is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Nilsen to get the leverage.

Xll has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Nilsen is working away from the top position though.
Xll is refusing to be controlled, as Nilsen sits in half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Xll is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.

Nilsen is looking for a kimura here.
Nilsen looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Xll throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Nilsen is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Nilsen tries to pass to full mount but Xll defends it.
Xll is looking to improve his position.

Nilsen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Xll is just riding it out for now. Nilsen eventually gives up the hold.

Nilsen is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Xll sees it coming and defends easily.

Nilsen is working for a submission of some sort.

Nilsen looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Xll makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Xll.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Nilsen wants to control from the top but Xll keeps moving.

Xll looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Nilsen pushes down on Xll's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Nilsen is working for a kimura but Xll is defending it quite comfortably.
Xll wants to get back to his feet.

Nilsen is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Xll is just riding it out for now. Nilsen eventually gives up the hold.
Nilsen works his way into full mount!

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Xll tries to buck Nilsen off but he can't manage it.

Nilsen has hold of Xll's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Xll manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.
Xll looking to escape from mount but he's given up his back!

Xll showing good submission defense here.
Xll is in bad spot here.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nilsen is working really hard to secure the rear naked choke. Xll defends successfully for a significant amount of time. Both fighters are looking very determined.
Nilsen has the hooks in. Xll is trying to push off one leg but he has to do so cautiously to avoid being submitted.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Dennis Nilsen dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

and Xll counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.


It looks like Dennis Nilsen has been cut.
Nilsen throws a right hand that misses
enabling Xll to counter with a crisp jab.
Xll takes one to the side of the head.
Xll throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
A jab from Nilsen does it's job there.
Nilsen takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Nilsen misses with the combination.
Dennis Nilsen seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Nilsen waving his hands out in front of him, looking to distract Xll.
Nilsen loads up on a big right hand but Xll slips the punch.
Nilsen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Xll throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Xll throws out a loose jab but Nilsen uses good head movement to avoid it.
As Xll backs off Nilsen throws a huge counter combo but Xll manages to avoid it all.
Nilsen has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Xll scores with a nice body kick.
Nilsen slips under a jab from Xll.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Nilsen fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Xll thumps Nilsen with a low kick.
Nilsen throws a jab when Xll was well out of range.

Nice defenses there by Xll.
Nilsen throws a shot from downtown. Xll moves away and avoids it.
Ramses Xll is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Nilsen throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
enabling Xll to counter with a crisp jab.
Dennis Nilsen seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sloppy strikes from Nilsen. Those never looked like landing.
Xll misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Xll just misses with a punch to the body.
Nilsen looks to land a left hand but Xll moved out of range nicely.
Xll appears to be looking for a counter punch to the body.
Nilsen fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Xll manages to avoid it.
Xll avoids a punch combination nicely.
Xll throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Nilsen counters with a stiff right hand.
Xll slips a jab and a cross from Nilsen.
Nilsen throws a big shot that misses.
Nilsen avoids the body shot from Xll.
Xll slips a straight right by Nilsen.

Xll scores with a nice head shot.
Nilsen has tried to improve his agility in the runup to this fight.
Xll cracks Nilsen with a right hand to the side of the head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Nilsen fails to land with a series of punches.
Xll throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Xll missing with a left hand there. Nilsen was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Xll tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Nilsen was well out of range. Poor timing from Xll.
Xll lands with an overhand left.


Nilsen is rocked!
Xll misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Nilsen is still on wobbly legs! Can Xll finish him?
Xll swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Xll takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Nilsen misses with a right hand
and Xll counters with a right hand to the body.
The fighters circle, before Xll throws a beautiful high kick that crashes into Nilsen's neck, sending him stumbling to the floor! Xll lands more strikes and forces a referee stoppage! That one ended in an instant!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Kick & Punches). Ramses Xll!
Ramses Xll decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
