Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Butch Larson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Mariusz Pudzianowski!
The judges for this bout are Igor Prikhodko, Konstantin Menshow and Sergei Dronov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Larson rushes Pudzianowski and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Pudzianowski has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Pudzianowski misses with a punch on the inside.
Pudzianowski looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
Pudzianowski struggles to land a body shot inside as Larson controls his hands.
Pudzianowski works on Larson's body with a couple of short punches.
Pudzianowski can't find room to land a body shot as Larson controls the action.
Larson is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Larson drags the fight down to the ground.
Larson is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Pudzianowski must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Larson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pudzianowski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Mariusz Pudzianowski is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Larson checks a low kick. Bone on bone - not my idea of a good time.
Pudzianowski throws a leg kick but Larson checks it.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Larson darts in looking for a takedown but Pudzianowski gets double underhooks and turns Larson into the cage.

It looks like Butch Larson has been cut.
No luck for Larson with that takedown attempt.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Butch Larson will probably get the nod.

That's time! Larson's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.


Pudzianowski misses with a low kick.
Pudzianowski connects with a body shot that sends Larson's belly button to the back.

Pudzianowski tries to sprawl but Larson drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Pudzianowski tries to roll over but Larson keeps him under control.
Larson looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Pudzianowski with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Pudzianowski is looking for a sweep. Larson is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

Larson is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Larson looking to pass the half guard. Not this time.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Pudzianowski has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Larson is working away from the top position though.

Well, if Larson is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
Larson's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Larson slips a nice elbow through Pudzianowski's hands, connecting with Pudzianowski's forehead.
The fighters are battling for position here. Pudzianowski manages to regain full guard. Nice work.
Larson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Pudzianowski keeping moving, preventing Larson from controlling successfully.
Pudzianowski wants to stand but Larson is controlling the position.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Larson closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Pudzianowski quickly recovers to half guard.

Pudzianowski finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Larson shoots in looking for a takedown but Pudzianowski manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Larson's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Larson tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Pudzianowski defends well and Larson ends up having to push Pudzianowski into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Mariusz Pudzianowski showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Larson half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Pudzianowski has been the more effective fighter overall so far.

Pudzianowski stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
Mariusz Pudzianowski seems to be getting the better of the standup.

and Pudzianowski counters with a nice right hand that sends Larson toppling to the canvas! Larson scrambles and gets back to his feet - can Pudzianowski finish him?!


Larson is rocked!
Pudzianowski tries to land a leg kick but Larson saw it coming and moves away.
Oh Larson is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Pudzianowski throws a wild body kick that Larson sees coming a mile off.
Pudzianowski connects with a jab, followed by a picture perfect straight right that sends Larson to the canvas, out cold! What a finish by Pudzianowski!
