Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kev Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and RJ McLovin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). McLovin comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Ready For The Fight kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, Kev Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of London, RJ McLovin!
The judges for this bout are Andrew Berry, James Glass and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Smith throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
McLovin throws a series of punches but Smith moves out of range.
Smith misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Smith tries to keep at a distance but McLovin has taken the fight into the clinch.

McLovin has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Smith uses from the top position.
Smith wants to stand but McLovin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
McLovin pulls Smith in close to prevent any damage.
McLovin tries to land a sweep but no joy.
McLovin has a closed guard, preventing Smith from standing up.

McLovin working for a triangle but Smith defends it easily.

Smith throws a head kick but McLovin moves out of range.

McLovin changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Smith looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

McLovin wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Smith, who protects the arm well.
Smith wants to get back to his feet but McLovin drags him back down.
McLovin moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Smith is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but McLovin has just dragged him back down to the mat.

McLovin is looking to take a break and control but Smith is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Smith is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Smith is breathing heavily.
McLovin grinds an elbow into Smith's temple.
McLovin remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Smith is looking to work his way out of this bad position but McLovin is controlling him well.

McLovin decides to stand back up.
Smith tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Smith is trying to buck McLovin off.
McLovin wants to control but Smith is keeping him busy.

Smith really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

McLovin stands up and we're back to a striking position.
Smith doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
McLovin works over Smith's head and body with a nice combination.
Smith is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

RJ McLovin dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


McLovin turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Smith throws a sloppy head kick and McLovin moves out of range easily.
Smith takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
McLovin works over Smith's head and body with a nice combination.
A right-left combo lands from McLovin.

McLovin looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
McLovin thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Smith's head.
Smith is trying to stand back up but McLovin is controlling him
McLovin takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

McLovin is looking for a kimura but Smith is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for McLovin to get the leverage.
McLovin wants to take a breather but Smith is having none of it.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
McLovin not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.

McLovin gets to his feet - back to striking we go!
McLovin throws a combination. Smith tries to block but a couple of punches get through.

McLovin connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.
McLovin throws out a powerful jab.
McLovin scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
Smith takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.

McLovin feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
McLovin seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Smith is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and McLovin dives into side control.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
McLovin moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
McLovin lands a two punch combo.

RJ McLovin showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Well McLovin has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
