PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Thomas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Baldwin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both these guys are coming into the fight with injuries so let's see if that has a bearing on the fight. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Thomas !
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Jimmy Baldwin!
The judges for this bout are William Peck, Robert Douchet and Ian Loll.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Thomas does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.
Baldwin misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Thomas throws a leg kick but Baldwin sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Baldwin has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Thomas finds it's way round the side to connect with Baldwin's head.
Thomas lands a slapping body shot.
Thomas throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Baldwin.

Thomas moves into the clinch.
Baldwin struggles to land a body shot inside as Thomas controls his hands.
Thomas connects with a nasty looking knee right to Baldwin's face.


It looks like Jimmy Baldwin has been cut.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The referee calls for Thomas to work.

Baldwin with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Thomas to score with a decent uppercut.

Thomas lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Baldwin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Thomas feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Baldwins jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Thomas , winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
