Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Numbers Franklin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Reed Steel (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Man, I cannot wait for this one!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Numbers Franklin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Reed Steel!
The judges for this bout are Roosa Järviläinen, Arvi Lind and Johanna Lukiainen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel gets off balance looking for a body kick
and Steel takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Steel looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Franklin!
Franklin wants to control but Steel postures up.
Steel tries to cartwheel into mount but he doesn't manage it.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steel swings around for an armbar but Franklin sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Steel's guard.

Franklin really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Franklin has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Steel is proving hard to escape from.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Steel seems keen to control Franklin's posture.
Steel doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.

Steel isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Franklin stacks Steel on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Franklin!

You can see the frustration on Steel's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steel tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Franklin wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Franklin sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Steel is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Steel drives through with a takedown into guard.

Franklin wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Franklin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Steel controls the pace.
Steel wants to stand but Franklin has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Franklin working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Steel doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Steel manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Numbers Franklin will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.



Franklin gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Steel to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Franklin can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Steel controls the pace.
Steel pushes down on Franklin's leg and manages to get into half guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Steel looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Steel performing his best blanket impression for a moment.
Steel is scoring with some nice ground and pound from the dominant position.
Steel lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Steel working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Franklin is looking to control Steel's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Franklin avoid being mounted?
Franklin is in a bad position, trying to hold on for dear life but he is really struggling to maintain any sort of control.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Steel passes to full mount!
Franklin is bucking up trying to escape but Steel cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Franklin is squirming around, avoiding Steel's attempts to control the action.
Steel lands a couple of good shots and Franklin has given up his back, trying to escape the position!


Franklin is rocked!
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Oh Franklin is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!

Franklin won't enjoy being in this position. Steel looking for the choke. Oh... he's slipped the arm under the neck - Franklin is tapping - it's over boys! Steel picks up the submission victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Reed Steel!
