Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Maynard Hooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joe Robinson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Maynard Hooper! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Joe Robinson ! The judges for this bout are Steve Montenegro, Reed Andrews and Russell Pearce.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Robinson misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Hooper thinks about countering with a head kick. Robinson tries to clinch up and Hooper counters with a series of strikes. Robinson will be more careful next time no doubt. Robinson forces Hooper back against the cage and clinches. Robinson prevents the takedown attempt.
Hooper drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Robinson gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Hooper lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
Robinson manages to get to full guard.
Robinson has his hands on Hooper's head, controlling the position.
That's one minute gone in the round. Robinson 's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige. Robinson is looking for a triangle but Hooper pushes his legs off easily.
Hooper landing some decent shots from guard. Hooper got a little sloppy there for a moment and Robinson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Hooper has managed to get both his arms back between Robinson 's legs - danger averted. Robinson looking to control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace. Hooper working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Hooper missing there with some ground and pound from the guard. There's a bit of a scramble here and now Robinson is on top in guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Robinson trying to stand up but can't free himself from Hooper's guard. Robinson must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Robinson controlling from the top position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Robinson has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hooper is proving hard to escape from. Robinson stops Hooper from standing up.
The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet. Robinson fails with a takedown attempt. Joe Robinson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Robinson tries to clinch but Hooper is having none of it. Hooper feinted with a counter takedown. Robinson dives in for a single leg takedown but Hooper sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage. Robinson looks winded!
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Robinson takes a push kick to the midsection and stumbles backwards. Hooper shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Robinson as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Maynard Hooper. That's going to take a lot out of him. Hooper takes the fight into the clinch. Hooper is trying to drag Robinson to the mat but Robinson just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Good anti-grappling being displayed by Hooper as Robinson tries to tie him up. Hooper manages to pull guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Robinson controls from within his opponent's guard. Hooper throwing strikes off his back to little effect.

Hooper has Robinson up against the cage in a clinch.
Hooper gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground. Robinson has his feet on Hooper's hips. He pushes off and gets to his feet. Nice work. Robinson gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Hooper counters with a two punch combo. Robinson gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Hooper tries to pull guard but Robinson won't allow it.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Robinson fails to pull guard.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Robinson . Maynard Hooper has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joe Robinson . Robinson is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hooper wants to clinch up but Robinson keeps it at a distance. Robinson closes this distance looking for a takedown but Hooper circles away. A combination from Hooper does no damage. Robinson tries to clinch but Hooper moves out of range. Horrible takedown attempt by Hooper or perhaps it was just good defense by Robinson , which made it look bad. Hooper moves into the clinch successfully.
Robinson is trying to drag Hooper to the mat but Hooper just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Robinson tries to pull guard but Hooper forces him back to his feet, against the cage.

Hooper is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Robinson can do to turn this around? Hooper has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Robinson is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet. Hooper manages to break the clinch.
Hooper fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hooper closes the distance and pushes Robinson back into the cage. Hooper tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Robinson working hard to break the clinch. Hooper escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Maynard Hooper is winning the standup battle so far. Robinson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Hooper swivels and escapes. Hooper moves into the clinch. Hooper wants the takedown. Robinson is fighting it off but Hooper persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Robinson 's guard against the cage. Robinson is looking to stand back up but Hooper counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Robinson .
That's three minutes gone in the round. Robinson is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though. Hooper seems to be working for a kimura but Robinson defends the submission attempt. Hooper is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.

Hooper is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Robinson is just riding it out for now. Hooper eventually gives up the hold. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Can Robinson avoid being mounted? Robinson is looking to regain full guard. He's left an arm up in the air though and Hooper has latched onto it... Big trouble! Hooper pivots for an armbar - it's in tight and it Robinson is tapping in no time flat! Great counter grappling there from Hooper!
