Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
11 - 8 - 1, fighting out of St Petersburg, Dan Hardy! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 14 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Ivan Kuznetsov! The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Ivan Kurochkin and Vladimir Khabensky.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kuznetsov dodges the punch combination from Hardy.
Hardy scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
It looks like Ivan Kuznetsov has been cut. Hardy looks to land a combination but Kuznetsov avoids it well. Kuznetsov shoots in looking for a takedown but Hardy manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kuznetsov's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Hardy misses with a jab, cross combination.
Hardy has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Russian Top Team Elite Gym in the buildup to the fight. Kuznetsov misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Hardy.
Hardy throws a nice looking combination but Kuznetsov bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Kuznetsov wants to counter with a clinch but Hardy pushes him away. Kuznetsov misses with a wild combination.
Hardy shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Hardy showed some decent athleticism there. Kuznetsov trying to control here but he's found himself mounted! Oh no!
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardy controlling the pace for now. Hardy prevents Kuznetsov from getting the reversal.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Hardy controlling the position easily from mount. Kuznetsov is in all sorts of trouble here.
Kuznetsov looks winded! Hardy controlling from mount. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Hardy seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Kuznetsov for as long as he can get away with.
That's three minutes gone in the round. We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kuznetsov can do anything to dispel that myth. Hardy's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
That's four minutes gone in the round. A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd. Kuznetsov is trying to stand. Hardy controlling his opponent. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hardy continues to stall. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Hardy dominated that round. The cut man is working on Ivan Kuznetsov's cut. That's time! Hardy's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Hardy looking for a takedown here - he's got it. Hardy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Kuznetsov's guard. Hardy not doing much here.
Kuznetsov is trying to maintain the position but Hardy is very close to passing his half guard. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Hardy performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Kuznetsov is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardy stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being. The fighters circle momentarily. Hardy darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch. Hardy shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Kuznetsov is trying to escape back to his feet but Hardy uses the scramble to pass into side control.
That's two minutes gone in the round. A bit of a lull in the action. I'm sure it will pick up again soon... even if the ref has to physically pick them up and put them back on their feet. Hardy is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Kuznetsov can do to turn this around? Further stalling from Hardy.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hardy works to advance to full mount. Kuznetsov defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs. Hardy tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Dan Hardy dominated that second round. The cut man is working on Ivan Kuznetsov's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!
Kuznetsov throws a front kick aimed at Hardy's knee but Hardy avoids it well. No joy there for Hardy, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Hardy lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
Hardy misses with the combination.
Hardy lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Hardy. Hardy throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Kuznetsov was covering up waiting for the punch and Hardy finishes the takedown easily into guard. Hardy is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long. Hardy stands and throws Kuznetsov's legs to the side, diving into side control. Kuznetsov takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hardy taking a breather here. Dan Hardy is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Hardy thows a body kick. Kuznetsov tries to catch it but that hurt him. Hardy misses with a two punch combination.

That's three minutes gone in the round. Hardy feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position. Kuznetsov is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Hardy dives into side control.
A lull in the action here as Hardy stalls from top position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hardy has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. If it seems like I'm not saying a lot, it's just because Hardy is stinking the place up with his stalling.
And that's the end of the fight! Dan Hardy showed his dominance in that final round. Well Hardy has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
