3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, john appleseed ! The judges for this bout are Stewart Dunkirk, Daniel Franklin and Gwen Towbar.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Holliday closes this distance looking for a takedown but appleseed circles away. Holliday tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but appleseed swivels and escapes. appleseed tries to bum rush Holliday with a series of wild strikes but Holliday uses good footwork to avoid the assault. appleseed misses with a few strikes there.
Holliday is looking to clinch but appleseed is avoiding it.
Holliday shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says appleseed as he avoids it easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Henry Holliday. That's going to take a lot out of him. appleseed tries to clinch there but Holliday circles away.
Holliday shoots in but appleseed avoids the takedown attempt easily. Holliday swats away the attempt to clinch by appleseed . appleseed tries to clinch but Holliday moves away and Holliday counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for appleseed ! appleseed wants to try and get back to his feet. Holliday goes for an armbar but he's not got it… appleseed turns into him and now he's in Holliday's guard.
Holliday escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. appleseed gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
That's one minute gone in the round. appleseed wanted to stand there but Holliday had control of the position. appleseed avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
appleseed really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Holliday. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Holliday is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. appleseed wants to get back to his feet.
That's two minutes gone in the round. appleseed is defending against the submission attempts here by Holliday.
Holliday missing with the ground and pound from half guard. Holliday is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and appleseed defends it well. Holliday works his way into side control.
That's three minutes gone in the round. appleseed is pushing Holliday's head away, looking to escape. Holliday manages to hold on to the position though. Holliday is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but appleseed is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Holliday in side control, throwing shots but appleseed defends. Holliday working the ground and pound but he's contacting the mat, not the fighter. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Holliday advances to full mount.
That's four minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Holliday connects with a couple of good shots from mount.
Holliday with good strikes from the mount here! Holliday is giving the impression that he's looking to ground and pound but he switches suddenly into a beautiful far side armbar! appleseed is forced to tap! Great finish!
