And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Aaron Manutz!
The judges for this bout are Richard Clark, James Ackerman and Chris Edwards.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nunes needs to keep his hands up - Manutz had a free shot at his head there.
Nunes shoots for a takedown but Manutz saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Nunes has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Nice body kick from Manutz.
Manutz misses with a few strikes there.
We've been hearing reports that Nunes has been drilling takedowns in recent sessions so let's see if that has an impact on the result of this fight.
Manutz cracks Nunes with a good jab.
Nunes shoots in looking for a takedown but Manutz manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Nunes's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Manutz throws a sloppy head kick and Nunes moves out of range easily.
Manutz listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.

Aaron Manutz seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Manutz has taken the fight to the clinch.
Manutz lands a hook that snaps the head of Nunes backwards.


Nunes is rocked!
Nunes changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Manutz fights it off and pushes away nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Gustavo Nunes. That's going to take a lot out of him.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Manutz enables Nunes to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Manutz manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Nunes wants to pass the guard but Manutz is keeping the position.
Manutz pulls Nunes in close to his closed guard and prevents Nunes from doing any damage or advancing position.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Manutz can do anything to dispel that myth.

Nunes missing there with some ground and pound from the guard.
Manutz wants to improve his position but instead Nunes has moved into half guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Manutz pushes Nunes off looking to stand but Nunes dives back in and keeps control.
Nunes lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears.
Nunes works his foot free and advances to mount.
Nunes breaks from Manutz's wrist control and lands an elbow.
Nunes blocks Manutz's feeble attempts to strike from the bottom.

Manutz can't escape the position.
Manutz is still trying to improve position.
Manutz really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Nunes. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Manutz wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Nunes.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
The referee warns Manutz that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Manutz wants to control but Nunes is having none of it.
Nunes throws some wild stikes that Manutz manages to avoid easily.
Nunes has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Nunes goes for an armbar but Manutz turns quickly into his guard - lovely anticipation from Manutz.
Manutz trying to control but Nunes is working from the bottom.

Manutz looking to improve position, pressing down on Nunes's thigh with his hand. Nunes seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Manutz paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Manutz's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Nunes picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Guillotine). Gustavo Nunes!

Aaron Manutz was interviewed post fight and said 'This is the end. I will retire in shame...goodbye world....'.
