PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Deon Fernandez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryder Eipper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eipper has chosen I Got A Feeling as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Deon Fernandez!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Ryder Eipper!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Bruno Hogan and Steve Erwin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Eipper tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Fernandez paws at him with a jab and circles away.

Eipper gets caught flat footed, as Fernandez shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
Fernandez prevents Eipper from getting back to his feet.
Eipper looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
Eipper looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Fernandez puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Eipper has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Fernandez is working away from the top position though.
Eipper tries to roll over but Fernandez keeps him under control.
Eipper makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Eipper.
Eipper wants to stand up but Fernandez is controlling him.
Fernandez connects with a couple of short punches.

Eipper really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Fernandez. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Eipper is trying to improve his position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Fernandez gets the takedown into side control.
Eipper tries to buck Fernandez off but Fernandez is having none of it.
Eipper looks gassed!
Eipper is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Fernandez lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Eipper is looking for a sweep.

Fernandez is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Eipper is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Eipper is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Fernandez slips a nice elbow through Eipper's hands, connecting with Eipper's forehead.
Eipper is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fernandez moves nicely into side control.
Eipper takes a couple of big shots there - the referee warns him that he has to defend himself better.
Fernandez wants to lay and pray for a moment but Eipper keeps working.
Eipper is trying to control Fernandez's posture but Fernandez avoids it.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Fernandez shoots in for a takedown but Eipper shows good takedown defense.

Eipper dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Fernandez. That did some damage!

Eipper lands a hook that snaps the head of Fernandez backwards.
Eipper goes for a takedown attempt but Fernandez pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Horrible takedown by Fernandez or perhaps it was just good defense by Eipper which made him look bad.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Deon Fernandez. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Eipper throws a lazy right hand but Fernandez sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Fernandez changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Eipper tries to avoid it but Fernandez manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Eipper to the ground. Eipper escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Eipper throws a nice looking combination but Fernandez bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Fernandez shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Eipper as he avoids it easily.

Eipper wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Fernandez swats away the attempt to clinch by Eipper.
Eipper swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.

Fernandez tries to clinch but Eipper moves out of range.

Eipper closes the distance and pushes Fernandez back into the cage.

Fernandez drops back looking for a leg! Eipper is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Eipper manages to kick Fernandez off! Fernandez jumps back into Eipper's guard.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Fernandez accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
Fernandez postures up in Eipper's guard and throws a big left but Eipper blocks it.
Eipper has his hands on Fernandez's head, controlling the position.

Fernandez drops back, looking for a kneebar! Eipper looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Eipper looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Eipper!

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Fernandez has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

That's time! Fernandez's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Fernandez had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Eipper is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Fernandez Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Eipper's back instead.

Fernandez is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Eipper knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Eipper for a finish.

Fernandez escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Eipper gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Eipper would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Eipper not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
Eipper stands up over Fernandez, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head.
