Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 5 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Troy Finch! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
3 - 17 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Artur Pinezka! The judges for this bout are Santiago Holmes, Dirk Anderson and Bart Greer.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Pinezka scores with a jab to the head.
It looks like Troy Finch has been cut. Nice uppercut lands for Pinezka. That snapped Finch's head back.
Artur Pinezka seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Pinezka stuffs the takedown. Finch pushes Pinezka up against the cage in a clinch. Finch breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Finch clinches with his opponent.
Finch manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back. Finch trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from! A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Finch holds on and takes a little breather. Finch is trying to keep Pinezka in close.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Finch wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now. Pinezka really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Finch. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out. Finch working a defensive guard here.
That's one minute gone in the round. Finch manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Pinezka manages to get himself to full guard.
Finch stands up over Pinezka, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Finch seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up. Finch decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow. Finch shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Finch was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure! Pinezka is looking to get back to his feet here but Finch is keeping cool and he's managed to take Pinezka's back.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Finch is controlling his opponent, waiting for an opportunity to finish. Finch seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Pinezka for as long as he can get away with.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Finch working from the back looking to end the fight with a rear naked choke. Pinezka is doing well to defend. Finch seems to have got his hand under the chin though and he's sunk the choke in! Pinezka is forced to tap and this one is over!
