Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between John Santos (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ryan Kesler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kesler has chosen Cancer Bats - Deathsmarch as his entrance music. Ryan Kesler will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, John Santos! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ryan Kesler! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Columbo Gatti and Eddie Farnsworth.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Santos shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Santos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kesler is fending him off so far but Santos persists. Nope, Kesler circles away and we're back to standing. Santos fails with a takedown attempt from distance. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him. Kesler throws the left hand but Santos avoids the punch easily. Kesler throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Santos sees it coming and avoids it easily. A jab from Kesler misses. Santos drives through with a takedown into guard. Kesler tries to land a sweep but no joy. Kesler avoiding any damage from the ground and pound. Santos controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kesler trying to control the position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer. Kesler wants to sweep here but Santos controlling him for the moment. Santos is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions. Kesler will have to put a bit more behind his punches if he's going to do any damage from this position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Kesler looking to hit a scissor sweep but Santos is one step ahead there. Santos with a flurry of punches that miss. Kesler working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Santos.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Santos steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kesler.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless. Kesler cracks Santos with a big right hand and Santos goes down!
Santos is rocked!
It looks like John Santos has been cut. Kesler has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Santos is proving hard to escape from. Oh Santos is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Kesler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu. Santos tries to land a sweep but no joy. Santos seems to have got his legs back now. Santos is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Kesler has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Santos is proving hard to escape from. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Ryan Kesler dominated that round. The cut man is working on John Santos's cut. That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Santos fails miserably with a takedown attempt. Santos misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Santos shoots in but Kesler avoids the takedown attempt easily. That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Santos. That's going to take a lot out of him. Santos uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Kesler. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Kesler throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land. Santos steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kesler.
That's one minute gone in the round. Kesler throws an overhand right that lands on Santos's shoulder, as Santos tries to avoid the shot. Kesler showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Santos.
Kesler throws a hook but Santos avoids it easily. Santos slips under a jab from Kesler. Santos looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Kesler is fending him off so far but Santos persists. Nope, Kesler circles away and we're back to standing. Santos defending well as Kesler loads up on a big left hand. A jab from Kesler misses. Kesler throws a hook to the side of Santos's head but Santos sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
That's two minutes gone in the round. There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action. Santos keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Kesler. A swing and a miss from Kesler. Kesler throws a jab when Santos was well out of range. A big right from Kesler misses. Kesler might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable. Santos shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Kesler as he avoids it easily. Kesler cracks Santos with a big right hand that sends him crashing to the floor. Kesler has the opportunity to follow him to the ground but instead he's beckoning Santos to stand back up! John Santos is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. A big right from Kesler misses. Nice defenses there by Santos. Kesler moves in close and cracks Santos with a massive right hand! Santos, frozen momentarily in time, tumbles to the canvas, already out cold! A brutal knockout by Kesler!
