Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ducky Gonquer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rob Taylor (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ducky Gonquer!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Rob Taylor!
The judges for this bout are Russell Pearce, John Roberts and Dean Styles.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taylor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gonquer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Nice shot lands for Taylor.
Taylor looks to land a combination. Gonquer sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Taylor throws a series of strikes that have Gonquer backpedaling.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Oooh a lovely combination from Taylor sends Gonquer down but not out. Taylor dives into side control looking to finish.


Gonquer is rocked!

Taylor decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Rob Taylor seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Taylor throws a right and a left that both miss.
Taylor misses with a looping left.
Taylor takes a swing at Gonquer's ribcage but misses.
Taylor fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gonquer on the side of the head.
Taylor misses with a two punch combination.
Gonquer throws a chopping leg kick but Taylor manages to avoid taking any serious damage.
Gonquer misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Taylor misses with the combination.
Gonquer takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Taylor looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Gonquer looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Taylor is fending him off so far but Gonquer persists. Nope, Taylor circles away and we're back to standing.

Gonquer gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Taylor.

Taylor catches Gonquer with a nice straight right. He seems pissed - ooooh, it's on now! On like donkey kong!
Taylor throws out a loose jab but Gonquer uses good head movement to avoid it.
Gonquer takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

Gonquer shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Taylor's guard.

Rob Taylor is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Taylor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gonquer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.

and Gonquer counters with a single leg into guard. Taylor didn't expect that.

Taylor manages to escape and get back to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Gonquer tries to land a front kick but Taylor steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Gonquer fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Ducky Gonquer. That's going to take a lot out of him.

and Gonquer decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Taylor's guard.
Taylor is looking to stand up but Gonquer isn't so interested in that idea.

Gonquer wants to control from the top but Taylor keeps moving.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Taylor is looking to stand up but Gonquer isn't so interested in that idea.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Taylor thows a left - swing and a miss!

and Taylor takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Taylor throws a jab when Gonquer was well out of range.
Gonquer throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Gonquer's corner calls for a 1,2 combination and Gonquer duly obliges.

and Gonquer counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Gonquer.
Taylor is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Gonquer stands and throws Taylor's legs to the side, diving into side control.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Gonquer is trying to get an arm triangle but Taylor is defending well.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rob Taylor dominated that round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.


Taylor fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Gonquer on the side of the head.
Taylor lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.
Taylor loads up on a big right hand but Gonquer slips the punch.

Taylor throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Taylor lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Gonquer throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Taylor.

Gonquer closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Taylor is not content to let Gonquer control the position.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Taylor stuffs the takedown attempt from Gonquer. Gonquer gets slowly back to his feet.
Taylor might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Gonquer throws the left hand but Taylor avoids the punch easily.

Taylor is trying to stand.
Taylor is looking to get back to is feet but Gonquer passes into side control.
Taylor is trying to buck Gonquer off.
Gonquer lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.

Gonquer has knee on belly and moves into mount.
Gonquer controlling the position easily from mount.
Taylor wriggling around on the bottom manages to avoid the strikes thrown by Gonquer.
Gonquer is landing with some decent strikes but Taylor is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
Gonquer can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Taylor is looking to escape.

Gonquer is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Taylor has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Taylor!

Taylor gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Taylor tests Gonquer's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Gonquer gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Taylor.
Taylor rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Gonquer moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
Gonquer bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Gonquer moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Taylor takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Gonquer lands a two punch combo.
Gonquer on the wrong end of a vicious looking body shot.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Ducky Gonquer dominated that second round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!


Gonquer shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Taylor but Taylor pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Taylor misses with a combination
and Gonquer counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Gonquer takes one on the chin but seems OK.
The fighters circling - Taylor throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

Ducky Gonquer is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Gonquer does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Taylor scores with a straight right hand, right through his opponent's guard.
Rob Taylor seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Gonquer throws a front kick that sends Taylor stumbling back into the cage.
Gonquer takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Taylor throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Gonquer swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Taylor throws a left and a right that both miss
and Gonquer connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Taylor misses with a double jab

and Gonquer counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Taylor utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Taylor really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Gonquer. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Taylor checks a low kick from Gonquer.

and Gonquer decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Taylor's guard.

Gonquer is looking to take a break and control but Taylor is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Taylor is trying to get back to his feet.
Taylor regains half guard, as Gonquer was trying to land strikes.
Gonquer perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
Gonquer seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Taylor does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Gonquer tries to pass to full mount but Taylor defends it.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
Taylor will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

And that's the end of the fight!
Ducky Gonquer showed his dominance in that final round.
I think Gonquer has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
