Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Royce Allen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gerald Hickford (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Gerald Hickford will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Royce Allen! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Gerald Hickford! The judges for this bout are Jeff Smith, Josh West and Roger Salmon.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Allen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl. Allen seemed to be looking to counter by closing the distance. Allen stuffs the takedown. Hickford connects with a body shot. Hickford closes the distance and clinches. Hickford tries to pull guard but Allen won't allow it.
Royce Allen has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gerald Hickford. Allen keeps control of Hickford as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks. Hickford successfully pulls guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Allen would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard. Hickford is controlling Allen's posture.
That's one minute gone in the round. Hickford has a closed guard, preventing Allen from standing up. Allen throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Hickford works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Allen won't allow Hickford to sweep him here. Allen has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Hickford is proving hard to escape from. If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Allen might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Hickford throws a right and a left that Allen avoids nicely. Allen tries to counter by clinching up but Hickford breaks away and moves out of range. Hickford fails to land the takedown. Allen tries to counter by moving into the clinch but Hickford manages to circle out of the way.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it. Hickford throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Allen's waist but Allen gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Hickford off to one side. Hickford keeps the fight on the outside. Hickford fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Allen avoids it really well and circles away. Hickford misses with the combination.
Hickford shoots in and drives through. Allen sprawls well. Allen blocks a head kick by Hickford.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Hickford tries to land a body kick and Allen counters into the clinch. Nicely done. Allen has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Hickford is trying to keep an underhook but Allen manages to get the takedown into half guard. Hickford manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Allen keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Hickford's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does. Hickford fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Allen, pushing him back against the cage. Hickford has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate. Hickford goes for a takedown attempt but Allen pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.
Hickford shoots in for a takedown but Allen shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet. Hickford looks winded! Hickford looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Allen is fending him off so far but Hickford persists. Nope, Allen circles away and we're back to standing. Allen seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter. Royce Allen is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Allen tries to clinch up.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Hickford gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here. Allen stalling against the cage.

Allen keeping moving, preventing Hickford from controlling successfully. Hickford slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Allen is trying to control the position from the bottom.

Gerald Hickford dominated that round. That's time! Allen's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Hickford with a body punch. A glancing blow. Hickford looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Allen displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Hickford. Allen tries to counter with a takedown but Hickford is quick to defend against it. Hickford wants to take the fight to the mat but Allen manages to get underhooks and keep the fight in the clinch. Hickford is breathing heavily. Hickford tries to pull guard but Allen holds him up against the cage and eventually Hickford drops back down to his feet.

Good anti-grappling being displayed by Allen as Hickford tries to tie him up. Hickford is persisting with his attempts to control the action in the clinch, rather than do any real damage.

Hickford closes this distance looking for a takedown but Allen circles away. Allen tries to counter with a takedown but Hickford is quick to defend against it. Nice takedown defense from Allen. Allen gets tackled into the cage by Hickford. Hickford maintains the clinch. Hickford digs a right hand into Allen's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Allen's gas tank. Hickford lands a hook that snaps the head of Allen backwards. Allen breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat. Hickford fails with a takedown attempt. Allen could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Allen darts in and clinches Hickford up against the cage.

Hickford is trying to break the clinch but Allen is controlling him. Hickford is defending well against a takedown attempt. Hickford is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Allen tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Hickford is trying to drag Allen to the mat but Allen just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there. Hickford fails with a takedown attempt from distance. Hickford takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired. Allen tries to clinch there but Hickford circles away.

That's four minutes gone in the round. Allen uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Hickford.
A counter left hand to the body from Allen misses its target. Allen throws a wild combination but nothing lands. Hickford dives in and grabs Allen's left leg, looking for a takedown. Allen pushes down on Hickford's head and hops out. Hickford paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button. Allen instigates a clinch. Allen has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hickford avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Allen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Hickford gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily and Allen moves into the clinch.
