PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Fernando Torres (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ultimate Warrior (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warrior is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Unstable. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Torres tries to close the distance and clinch up but Warrior swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Warrior fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Torres sprawls well initially but Warrior persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Warrior wants to free his trapped foot but Torres is holding on for dear life with his legs.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Torres breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That was a close round but I would say that Fernando Torres will probably get the nod.

Warrior closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Torres to the mat! Torres manages to get full guard.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Torres's corner are shouting for him to stand up but that's bad cornering - how is he meant to stand up when he's mounted? He should be looking to improve his position on the ground before trying to stand back up.

Ultimate Warrior showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Torres takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Warrior changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Torres tries to avoid it but Warrior manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Torres to the ground. Torres escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Warrior feints and as Torres raises his hands in defense, Warrior changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Warrior shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Torres pinned against the cage. Torres gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Fernando Torres has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ultimate Warrior.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Warrior crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Torres - the referee stops the clock and Warrior gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Torres. Warrior manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.

Warrior closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Warrior has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Torres tries to close the distance and clinch up but Warrior swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Torres lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Warrior circles away quickly and effectively.

Warrior shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Warrior showed some decent athleticism there.
Warrior is keen to just control but Torres is a slippery customer.
Warrior working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Ultimate Warrior comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Warrior has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
