Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Henry Ford! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Assad Abdullah! The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Albert Achterberg and Patrick Alders.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Abdullah tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Ford defends well and Abdullah ends up having to push Ford into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch. As Abdullah looks to move away, Ford throws a big counter combo but Abdullah just gets out of the way. Ford misses with a series of wild punches.
Ford throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Ford scores with a one two! Abdullah had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. Abdullah gets the takedown into side control. Abdullah is looking to take a break and control but Ford is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom. Abdullah thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Ford sneaks back into half guard. Abdullah seems to be looking for submissions.
Abdullah is looking for a kimura. It's going to be difficult to finish that from half guard though and Ford defends it well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
That's one minute gone in the round. Abdullah looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Abdullah is trying for a kimura here. Ford looks like he's in a lot of pain... and he's tapping out! Abdullah wins by kimura!
