Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Manus Grant (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gaudencio Roman (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grant comes to the cage accompanied by Thunderstruck - AC/DC. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of
17 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Manus Grant!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

14 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Los Angeles, Gaudencio Roman!
The judges for this bout are Lou da Vinci, Dean Styles and Franklyn Lucas.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Grant throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Roman looks for a takedown but Grant sprawls well.
Grant keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Roman dips to his left and cracks Grant with an uppercut!
A momentary lapse in concentration from Grant enables Roman to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Grant manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Roman works over Grant with some ground and pound from guard.
Roman won't allow Grant to sweep him here.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Grant is on top in guard.
Roman looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Grant puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Roman felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.
Grant seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Grant not landing any meaningful shots this time.
Grant is thwarting Roman's attempts to control the position.

Grant tries to stand and escape but Roman is controlling the position.
Roman is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Grant pulls his head out easily.

Grant is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Roman wants to hold on but Grant pushes him away.
Roman sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Roman is trying to maintain the position but Grant is very close to passing his half guard.
Roman is controlling Grant's position as best he can from this difficult position.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Grant controlling the action here.
Grant stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Roman to get to his feet.

It looks like Gaudencio Roman has been cut.

Roman throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Grant fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Roman manages to avoid it.
Manus Grant is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Grant plants his feet and lands a nice head kick!
Roman misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Grant moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.
Roman decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Grant controls Roman momentarily but Roman frees himself.
Grant pulls Roman in close to his closed guard and prevents Roman from doing any damage or advancing position.

Grant can't keep his opponent in guard - Roman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Roman is trying to control the action in half guard but Grant is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Grant holds on for dear life, maintaining half guard for now.

Roman thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Grant's head.
Roman is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Grant keeps control of the position for the meantime.

That was a close round but I would say that Manus Grant will probably get the nod.
The cut man is working on Gaudencio Roman's cut.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.
Grant on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Roman. Roman obviously looking to wear him down.
Grant fakes the leg kick and cracks Roman in the body.
Roman slips in close and lands a nice hook before moving back out of range.
Roman shoots in for a takedown but Grant shows good takedown defense.

Gaudencio Roman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Grant lands a slapping body shot.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Grant swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Roman takes a nice looking leg kick right on the meat of his thigh there.
Grant tests Roman's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Roman blocks a head kick by Grant.
Grant lands a nice looking body shot.

Roman shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Roman showed some decent athleticism there.
Roman is just content to waste time from the top position. Grant takes advantage of the situation and regains full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Roman wants to control from the top but Grant keeps moving.
Grant can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Roman controls the pace.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Roman tries to free his leg and advance position but Grant is retaining full guard.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Gaudencio Roman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
A telegraphed right hand from Roman misses the target.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Roman lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Grant has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Grant and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

Roman tries to bum rush Grant with a series of wild strikes but Grant uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Roman looks to score with a jab to the body but Grant is just out of range.
Grant looks for the body kick but Roman saw that one coming.
Roman fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Grant.
Manus Grant is winning the standup battle so far.
Grant stuffs the takedown.
A looping hook to the body misses from Grant. Roman does a little dance to reset his feet.
Grant defending well as Roman loads up on a big left hand.
A little feinted left hand from Grant on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Roman tries to close the distance and clinch but Grant swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Grant is looking to slow Roman down with leg kicks.
Roman takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Grant checks a low kick from Roman.
Roman throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Grant tries to check a leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
A slapping body kick lands there for Grant.
Grant on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Roman takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Roman lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Roman.
Roman is breathing heavily.
Grant throws a leg kick that misses.
Roman avoids the body shot from Grant.

Grant drives through and clinches with Roman against the cage.
Roman breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Roman swings and misses with a hook to the body.
Grant throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
A head kick misses from Grant.
No joy there for Roman, who threw a few shots but didn't land.
Roman uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Grant.
Grant swats away the attempt to clinch by Roman.
An attempted straight right counter from Grant misses the target.
Roman jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Roman has Grant up against the cage in a clinch.
Roman looking to throw knees to the head but Grant is blocking nicely.
The referee is keeping an eye on Grant - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.
Grant tries to stall but Roman uses the opportunity to gain a better position.

A close second round but Gaudencio Roman will probably get the nod - 10:9.

That's time! Grant's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. And we move into the final round!
Roman ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Grant moves away.
Roman throws a nice outside leg kick.
Grant jabs Roman to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Grant throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Grant misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Roman.
Grant has not gone for a single takedown so far in this fight, which seems like a very strange tactic when you consider that he has the superior wrestling and BJJ.
Roman bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Grant sets himself, and Roman steps forward looking for the clinch! Grant avoids it this time.
Grant scores with a head kick. Roman tried to block it but didn't get his arm up in time.
Roman moves into the clinch successfully.
Roman has Grant pressed against the cage, preventing Grant from circling away and getting back to striking at range.
Grant lands a knee to the body.

Roman is working for takedown but Grant is calmly controlling the position for now.

Roman takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Roman looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Roman throws out a leg kick but Grant moves out of range and Roman only half commits.
Grant leaves Roman with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Grant tests Roman's chin there with a solid looking shot.
A head kick misses from Grant.
Roman tries a quick counter leg kick but Grant is wise to it.
Nice straight punches there by Roman. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Roman.
Roman closes the distance and pushes Grant back into the cage.
Grant breaks from the clinch.
Grant lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.
Grant swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Roman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Nice takedown defense from Grant. No joy for Roman on that attempt.
Manus Grant has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gaudencio Roman.

Grant fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Grant lands a head kick. Roman smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
Roman is rocked!
Both fighters circle each other, looking for something big. Grant moves in and throws an overhand right. That hurt Roman! Grant continues to tee off on Roman, landing with a left and a right! Grant connects with a right hand that leaves Roman sleeping against the cage! What a finish by Grant!
