Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Denis Carpenter! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Brandon Stark! The judges for this bout are Daniel Bishop, Paul Tew and Donald Grub.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Carpenter stuffs the takedown attempt from Stark. Stark gets slowly back to his feet. Carpenter attempts a counter takedown but Stark avoids it well and moves away. Stark has been working on his striking defense in training and it's paying off as Carpenter is landing a low percentage of strikes. Stark shoots for a double leg takedown but Carpenter sprawls well. He's pushed Stark's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily. It looked like Carpenter was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Stark fails miserably with a takedown attempt. It looked like Carpenter was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit. Denis Carpenter has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Brandon Stark. Carpenter closes the distance and clinches. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Carpenter taking a break, stalling in the clinch.
Carpenter is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Stark gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Carpenter controlling the action here for a moment.

A real battle for position is taking place between these two warriors. The ref breaks the fighters up, due to lack of action by Denis Carpenter. Stark shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Carpenter napping and manages to drive through into side control! Stark moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now. Stark looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything. Stark remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Stark has hold of Carpenter's arm here. He's working for an Americana. It looks like he might have it! Carpenter tries to escape but he's just digging himself in deeper - Stark cranks the arm and Carpenter screams in pain! The ref makes a decision and ends the fight before the tap - no complains from Carpenter, who is just happy to have his arm attached to his body.
