Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Kenji Sato (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Patterson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Sato comes to the cage accompanied by True Survivor - David Hasselhoff. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kenji Sato! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Derek Patterson! The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Lou da Vinci and Joseph Jones.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Sato looks to land a combination but Patterson avoids it well. Patterson changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sato tries to avoid it but Patterson manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sato to the ground. Sato escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Sato throws a big counter combination but Patterson scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage. Patterson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily. Sato darts in and out, connecting with a jab. Sato is looking to slow Patterson down with leg kicks. Derek Patterson seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout. Patterson shoots in for a takedown and gets it. We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake. Patterson throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage. Sato tries to roll over but Patterson keeps him under control. Patterson not throwing his punches with enough precision this time. Sato blocking the ground and pound attempt from Patterson. Sato on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound. Patterson missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
That's one minute gone in the round. Patterson working over Sato with some ground and pound. Sato looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable. Patterson has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan. Patterson working the head and body with strikes. Sato is trying to stand.
Sato regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Patterson. Patterson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time. Sato is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Patterson works over Sato with some ground and pound from guard. Sato is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive. Patterson in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Patterson with a nice head shot there. Patterson throws a big right hand that misses. Patterson postures up in Sato's guard and throws a big left but Sato blocks it. A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Patterson accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand. Patterson working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage. Sato utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound. Sato working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Patterson. Patterson trying to land body shots but he keeps hitting the mat. Patterson with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal. Patterson stands up over Sato, holding his feet. He dives back in and lands a decent shot to the head. Patterson is working the ground and pound from guard. He might want to try advancing position though to get more of an impact. Patterson wants to control from the top but Sato keeps moving. Patterson loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Patterson throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Sato works some decent striking defense from the bottom. Patterson wants to control from the top but Sato keeps moving. Patterson postures up.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup. Sato preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage. Patterson throws a strike but Sato rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top. Patterson looking to hit a scissor sweep but Sato is one step ahead there. Sato trying to control the position from guard on top but Patterson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can. Patterson has his hands on Sato's head, controlling the position.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Patterson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard. Patterson throwing strikes from guard but Sato blocks nicely. Patterson wants to pass the guard but Sato is keeping the position. Patterson postures up and lands a big shot to Sato's brow. Patterson trying to control but Sato is working from the bottom. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Sato is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Patterson is controlling him. Patterson with a flurry of punches that miss. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Derek Patterson dominated that round. OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.
Sato connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe. Patterson misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out. Sato stuffs the takedown. Nice uppercut there from Sato. Patterson dips down and scores with a jab to the body. Jab by Sato. Patterson takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor. Patterson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Sato swivels and escapes. Kenji Sato has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Patterson. Good leg kick by Sato there. It's the ones that make that thud noise that hurt and that was an almighty thud.
Sato looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight. Sato lunges at Patterson with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Patterson's hand. Patterson misses with a takedown and Sato connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Patterson has a takedown stuffed. Kenji Sato is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs. Patterson chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Sato can pounce on him.
Sato scores with a jab to the body. Kenji Sato is winning the standup battle so far. Patterson shoots and misses and Patterson takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles. Patterson is breathing heavily. Sato comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range. Sato scores with a decent looking hook. Patterson misses with a takedown attempt and Sato counters with a right hand to the body. Sato's jab looks to have found its range, popping Patterson under the eye. Patterson takes a jab right on the kisser.
It looks like Derek Patterson has been cut. Sato lands a hook that stumbles Patterson back into the cage. Sato follows up with a straight and another hook that land right on the button, dropping Patterson to the canvas! Sato pounces and lands several unanswered shots - Patterson has had enough and taps out! This one is all over!
