Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Marcus Kingston! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
8 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, El Matador! The judges for this bout are Valeri Chadov, Igor Prikhodko and Dmitry Maklakov.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Kingston tries to clinch and Matador counters with a shoot takedown into half guard. Matador prevents Kingston from standing back up.
Matador is trying to work for a kimura but Kingston is defending well.
Matador throwing shots but Kingston is blocking nicely. Kingston manages to create a bit of space in order to work his way back to his feet. Matador keeps hold of his opponent and drives him back against the cage. Matador is leaning against Kingston and scores with a nice uppercut to the body. Matador successfully pulls guard.
Matador has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Kingston off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds. This has been an exciting period of action! Matador takes a shot right to the bread basket. Kingston scores with a jab. Kingston moves into range and clinches up with Matador. Matador wants a takedown.

That's one minute gone in the round. Matador will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Kingston up against the cage. Matador putting his Muay Thai to good use. He has Kingston in a tight clinch and is doing some damage with knees to the body. Matador jumps guard and drags Kingston to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back. Kingston decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Matador, up you get! Kingston throws a combination that misses and Matador counters with a nice double leg into side control. Kingston won't be happy with that. Kingston on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Kingston tries to get out of the position. Matador wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kingston, who protects the arm well. Matador looks up at the clock and then as Kingston takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Matador smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Kingston is trying to stand back up. He's worked his way up against the cage but Matador has just dragged him back down to the mat. Matador tries for a kimura but Kingston is defending well. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. The crowd are loving this. Great action here. Matador is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Kingston has escaped the position, nice work there.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Kingston stops Matador from passing to mount. Kingston wants to escape from the position here - easier said than done! Matador tries for a kimura but Kingston is defending well. Kingston is trying to escape and get back to his feet. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Matador lands a few punches from side control. Matador wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Kingston, who protects the arm well.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult. Matador thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead. Kingston is working hard to escape and get back to his feet. After a battle for position, Matador asserts his dominance and retains side control. Kingston knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Matador on the ground.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Matador scoring with punches from side control. The strikes coming from Matador are missing the target in this wave of attacks. Matador is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Kingston is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now. Matador grinds an elbow into Kingston's temple. Matador in side control lands a nice looking series of punches and elbows. Kingston is working to avoid the ground and pound but Matador connects with a decent elbow.
Kingston is rocked! Matador working the ground and pound. Oh Kingston is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!! Kingston is pushing Matador's head away, looking to escape. Matador manages to hold on to the position though. Matador in side control lands a decent elbow. Kingston takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Matador crunches a massive hammerfist down on Kingston - he's out! Matador Holds back on further strikes and jumps to his feet to celebrate with the crowd!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:59 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Strikes). El Matador! El Matador decided to hype himself up post fight. It was going well but he went on about it a bit too long and the crowd turned on him a little.
