Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Moshe Mclaughlin! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Bruce Leeroy! The judges for this bout are Kenichi Hosakawa, Shigeki Fujiwara and Yukihiro Yamamoto.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Leeroy shoots in but doesn't get the takedown and Mclaughlin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mclaughlin. Mclaughlin tightens his grip and picks Leeroy up, before dumping him to the ground. Leeroy manages to land in guard. Leeroy is working an open guard so Mclaughlin takes the opportunity to get back to his feet. Mclaughlin has closed the distance and engaged Leeroy in a clinch.
Mclaughlin stalls. Mclaughlin works for the underhooks and manages to get a trip takedown into guard. Mclaughlin sitting in guard, not really doing much. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leeroy working a defensive guard but Mclaughlin manages to pass into side control anyway.
Mclaughlin is maintaining the dominant position - no doubt Leeroy will start to get frustrated soon if he's not already. Leeroy is trying to work for a sweep but Mclaughlin has mounted him! Leeroy keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.
Leeroy is still trying to improve position.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Mclaughlin sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Leeroy is working to get back to half guard.
Mclaughlin swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Leeroy is now in Mclaughlin's guard. A big mistake from Mclaughlin there, giving up the dominant position! Mclaughlin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle. Leeroy sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Mclaughlin's guard. Leeroy is looking to take a break and control but Mclaughlin is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
That's four minutes gone in the round. Leeroy performing his best blanket impression for a moment. Mclaughlin is trying to get back to full guard. Mclaughlin is controlling Leeroy's position as best he can from this difficult position. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Mclaughlin blocking the ground and pound attempt from Leeroy. Leeroy tries to pass to full mount but Mclaughlin defends it. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Moshe Mclaughlin dominated that round. The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!
Leeroy looks to score with a combo but nothing lands. Mclaughlin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Leeroy tries to avoid it but Mclaughlin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Leeroy to the ground. Leeroy escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet. Leeroy just misses with a punch to the body.
Bruce Leeroy is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Mclaughlin moves into range and clinches up with Leeroy. Mclaughlin has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Leeroy clear over his head and slammed him to the mat! Leeroy trying to control the position but Mclaughlin manages to sink in the hooks. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mclaughlin keeps control of the position as Leeroy tries to break free.
Mclaughlin is looking to finish the fight by rear naked choke. Leeroy knows exactly what he's got planned though, so he's defending well. Maybe a few strikes would soften Leeroy for a finish. Leeroy is breathing heavily.
That's one minute gone in the round. Mclaughlin not allowing Leeroy to control his hands. Leeroy manages to reverse the position and now he's in Mclaughlin's guard. Nice work there by Leeroy.
Mclaughlin is pulling down on Leeroy's head to control his posture. The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing. Mclaughlin manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Leeroy manages to get himself to full guard.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leeroy wants to control but instead he gets his guard passed and Mclaughlin is now in half guard. Leeroy pushes Mclaughlin off and gets back to his feet. Leeroy shoots in looking for a takedown but Mclaughlin manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Leeroy's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away. Mclaughlin gets a clinch. Mclaughlin wants the takedown. Leeroy is fighting it off but Mclaughlin persists and manages to bring the fight to the ground, ending up in Leeroy's guard against the cage. This has been an exciting period of action! Leeroy trying to control the position.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mclaughlin slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Leeroy has momentary wrist control but Mclaughlin slips an elbow through the middle. Mclaughlin controls from within his opponent's guard. Mclaughlin with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so. Leeroy wants to get back to his feet but Mclaughlin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity. Leeroy shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Mclaughlin defends it nicely. Leeroy has his takedown stuffed and Mclaughlin counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Mclaughlin. Moshe Mclaughlin has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Bruce Leeroy. The crowd thankful this round is nearly over. Mclaughlin has picked Leeroy up - he's going for a ride! Mclaughlin dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard. Leeroy pushes Mclaughlin off but Mclaughlin dives into side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Moshe Mclaughlin dominated that second round. That's time! Mclaughlin's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!
Mclaughlin darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Mclaughlin content to sit in half guard and control for a moment. Mclaughlin's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Mclaughlin is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Mclaughlin seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Leeroy takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
That's one minute gone in the round. Leeroy manages to escape and get back to his feet! Leeroy shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it. Leeroy shoots in and drives through. Mclaughlin sprawls well. Mclaughlin scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Leeroy is trying to escape the position but Mclaughlin is controlling the position. Leeroy tries to control but end up mounted... ooooh, that's bad. Mclaughlin avoids the attempt from Leeroy to control. Mclaughlin controlling from the full mount. Mclaughlin raining down shots from the mount! Mclaughlin working for a guillotine from mount but Leeroy is in no mood to give up. Moshe Mclaughlin overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
That's three minutes gone in the round. Mclaughlin tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position. Leeroy trying desperately to get to his feet.
Leeroy tries to get back to half guard but can't. Mclaughlin takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action. Further stalling from Mclaughlin. Mclaughlin pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage. Mclaughlin controlling from the full mount. Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out! Leeroy tries to buck Mclaughlin off but he can't manage it.
And that's the end of the fight! Moshe Mclaughlin showed his dominance in that final round. Well Mclaughlin has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
