The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mason connects with a single shot there.
Monk doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Mason closes the distance and lands a one-two.

It looks like The Monk has been cut.

Mason drives through and clinches with Monk against the cage.

Mason breaks the clinch.
Mason misses with a few strikes there.

Mason moves into the clinch.
Mason lands with a right to the head.
Mason has had enough of the clinch but Monk keeps him there for the moment.
Mason working hard to break the clinch.
Mason is trying to maintain a safe position but Monk gets an underhook and turns Mason into the cage.

Monk jumps into guard, dragging Mason to the mat.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mason seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.
Mason is looking to stand up but Monk won't let him.

Monk wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Mason trying to control the position from guard on top but Monk is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Mason looking to improve position, pressing down on Monk's thigh with his hand. Monk seems to be working to lock up a guilotine though... is Mason paying attention? Apparently not! He's locked it up tight! Mason's face has turned purple! Will he tap? Will he! YES! He's tapped! Monk picked his opening and made it count! Great finish!
