PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Das Boot (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Timur Orlan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Das Boot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Timur Orlan!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, Andrew Berry and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Orlan on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.


It looks like Timur Orlan has been cut.
Orlan fails with the takedown.
Boot misses with a jab, cross combination.
A telegraphed right hand from Boot misses the target.
Orlan takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.
Boot throws a series of punches but Orlan avoids them all with ease.
Orlan blocks a head kick by Boot.
Orlan lands a head kick!

Orlan closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Boot trying to control here.
Boot regains full guard. Nicely done.

Boot escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Orlan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Orlan is looking to stand up but Boot won't let him.

That's one minute gone in the round.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Orlan accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Boot has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Orlan can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Orlan trying to control but Boot is working from the bottom.

Boot escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Orlan gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Boot is breathing heavily.
Orlan trying to control the position from guard on top but Boot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Orlan might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Boot kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
Orlan slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Boot is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Orlan would like to get this fight back to the feet but can't get free from the closed guard.

Boot looking for a guillotine here but Orlan defends easily.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Boot looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Orlan has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Boot is proving hard to escape from.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Boot has his foot on Orlan's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Orlan works his way back into a safe position though.
Boot keeping moving, preventing Orlan from controlling successfully.
Orlan works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Boot trying to control from the bottom.
Boot is not content to let Orlan control the position.
Orlan tries to stand but can't do so whilst Boot controls his leg.
Orlan works his foot free and advances to mount.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Orlan has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Boot's face.
Boot is in a horrible position here. Orlan smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.
Orlan can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Boot is looking to escape.
Boot is desperately trying to improve his position but Orlan has a good base and remains in mount.

Orlan with some aggressive grappling here. He's looking for submissions here, rather than waiting for the opportunity to counter.
Boot is trying to escape the mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Das Boot dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Timur Orlan's cut.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Boot fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Orlan manages to avoid it.
Boot tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Nice shot lands for Boot.
Das Boot seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boot throws a series of punches but Orlan moves out of range.
Boot lands a lovely overhand right.
Orlan throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Boot's waist but Boot gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Orlan off to one side.

Boot moves into range and clinches up with Orlan.

Orlan breaks the clinch.

Orlan clinches up against the cage.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
Boot is looking to break free of the clinch but Orlan has double underhooks.

Boot manages to pull guard.
Orlan looking to pass the guard.
Orlan throws a big right hand that misses.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Orlan trying to control the position from guard on top but Boot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Orlan is breathing heavily.

Boot had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Orlan is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Boot Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Orlan's back instead.
Orlan trying to control the hands but Boot won't let him.
Can Orlan hold on?! Boot is landing more strikes to his hapless foe.
Orlan finds himself mounted whilst avoiding strikes.
Orlan really trying hard to get back to half guard here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Orlan tries to improve his position but Boot has taken his back! Boot has a choke - it's sunk in pretty tight... Will Orlan tap? No... maybe... yes! He's tapped! Boot pushes Orlan away and gets up to celebrate with his corner!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:22 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (RNC). Das Boot!
