Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jacques Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sunfire Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jacques Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sunfire Jones!
The judges for this bout are , Don Winkell and Jack Bonds.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jones lands a nice looking body shot.
Jones throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Johnson feinted with a counter takedown.

Jones rushes Johnson and presses him up against the cage.
Jones is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Johnson tries for a takedown but Jones manages to get underhooks.
Johnson tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jacques Johnson. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Jones pulls Johnson into guard.
Jones throws some sloppy strikes off his back.
Johnson won't allow Jones to sweep him here.

Jones working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Johnson doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Johnson manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Johnson won't allow Jones to sweep him here.

Jones looking for a guillotine here but Johnson defends easily.
Jones is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.


Jones decides to return to a standing position.
Jones shoots in for a double leg but Johnson sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.

Jones rushes Johnson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Johnson gets control of Jones's arms and successfully pulls guard. Johnson will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.
Jones trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Jones is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Jones stands and steps away. Johnson gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.

Johnson tries to keep at a distance but Jones has taken the fight into the clinch.
Jones lands a body shot.
Johnson is trying to pull guard but Jones has him pressed against the cage.

Jones has hold of one of Johnson's legs. Johnson is fighting the takedown attempt but Jones gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.

Jones gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

Jones has Johnson up against the cage in a clinch.
Jones is trying to break the clinch but Johnson has him pressed against the cage.
Johnson has Jones pressed against the cage, preventing Jones from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Jones has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Johnson uses from the top position.
Johnson is fighting to break Jones's control of his arms but Jones is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Johnson stands up from Jones's guard - Johnson perhaps looking for a knockout.

Johnson moves out of range of the body kick from Jones.
Jones pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Johnson tries to clinch up.

Jones moves into the clinch.
Jones is looking to break free of the clinch but Johnson has double underhooks.

Johnson pulls guard effortlessly.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Jones gets to his feet. Johnson looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sunfire Jones dominated that round.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



Jones fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Johnson, pushing him back against the cage.
Johnson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.
Sunfire Jones is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Jones tries a head kick but it misses.
A little feinted left hand from Johnson on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Jones fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Johnson avoids it really well and circles away.
Horrible takedown attempt by Jones or perhaps it was just good defense by Johnson, which made it look bad.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Jones dives in for a single leg takedown but Johnson sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.
Johnson half committed to a counter leg kick.
Jacques Johnson has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Sunfire Jones.
Jones lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Jones has Johnson up against the cage in a clinch.

Jones is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Johnson is defending well for now.
The step up in weight doesn't seem to be a problem for Jones. He's performing admirably here against the bigger man.
Johnson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Jones smiles and moves away.

Jones gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.

Johnson changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Jones fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Jones tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Johnson defends well and Jones ends up having to push Johnson into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.
Jones misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
It looked like Johnson was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Jones.
Jones jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Johnson gets tackled into the cage by Jones. Jones maintains the clinch.

Jones lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Jones is looking to stall here but Johnson recovers full guard.
Johnson will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Johnson avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.

Jones is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Johnson working for a triangle but Jones defends it easily.
Jones engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.
Jones trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Johnson manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Jones pulls Johnson in close to prevent any damage.
Jones wants to sweep here but Johnson controlling him for the moment.
Jones wants to control the position but Johnson says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Jones wants to get back to full guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Sunfire Jones showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Johnson pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Johnson tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Johnson to the ground. Johnson escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Jones is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
A counter left hand to the body from Johnson misses its target.
Jones tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Johnson swivels and escapes.
Sunfire Jones seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Jones misses with the combination.

Jones pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Johnson appeared to be looking to counter that last move with a leg kick.
Jones looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Johnson is fending him off so far but Jones persists. Nope, Johnson circles away and we're back to standing.

Johnson closes the distance and pushes Jones back into the cage.
Jones tries to break free but Johnson pushes him back against the cage.
Johnson jumps guard but Jones turns him against the cage and keeps the fight standing.

Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Johnson's guard.
Johnson is controlling Jones's trapped leg to prevent Jones from advancing to side control.
Johnson regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Jones.

Johnson had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Jones defends it easily.

Jones avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Jones throws a big right hand that misses.
Jones trying to control the position from guard on top but Johnson is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Jones throws a strike but Johnson rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.


That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Johnson avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Jones looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.
Jones controls Johnson momentarily but Johnson frees himself.
Jones has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Jones has scooted to the edge of the canvas and used the cage to get back to his feet. Johnson has stuck on his opponent and is forcing him back against the cage.
Jacques Johnson has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Sunfire Jones is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Jones pulls guard effortlessly.

And that's the end of the fight!
That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Jacques Johnson.
Well Jones has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
