PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Vindigo Muriek (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Angel Lisario (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lisario has chosen I Gotta Feeling by The Black Eyed Peas as his entrance music. Angel Lisario will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

The judges for this bout are Edson Gomes, Seu Braga and Daniel Cesar.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lisario shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Muriek defends it nicely.
Lisario throws a sloppy head kick and Muriek moves out of range easily.
Muriek throws a leg kick but Lisario moved away.
Lisario looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Muriek is fending him off so far but Lisario persists. Nope, Muriek circles away and we're back to standing.
Muriek throws a right hand that misses
and Lisario counters with a left to the body.

Muriek throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Lisario was covering up waiting for the punch and Muriek finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Muriek is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Muriek stands up from Lisario's guard - Muriek perhaps looking for a knockout.

Lisario avoids a punch combination nicely.

Muriek takes the fight into the clinch.
Lisario drops to a knee looking for a takedown but Muriek gets the underhooks and prevents it.
Vindigo Muriek has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Angel Lisario.
Lisario tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Muriek turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Muriek has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Lisario lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.

Lisario should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.

Lisario shoots for a takedown but Muriek saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

Muriek rushes Lisario and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Muriek escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Muriek drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Muriek sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Lisario's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Muriek decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Lisario shoots in for a double leg but Muriek sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
Lisario darts in looking for a takedown but Muriek gets double underhooks and turns Lisario into the cage.
Lisario lands a leg kick that knocks Muriek off balance momentarily.

We're hearing some news coming in from back stage. It's official - Lisario has eaten all the pies!
Muriek is looking to score with knees to the body. Maybe he'll change it up and go body then head. Lisario is defending well for now.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action.

The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.

Muriek ties up his opponent against the cage and manages to drag the fight down to the ground. Muriek no doubt will be looking to work submissions from his guard.

Lisario wants to control but Muriek is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Muriek seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.

Muriek decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Lisario really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Muriek. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

That was a close second round but I would say that Vindigo Muriek will probably get the nod.
That's time! Muriek's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Muriek is looking for a triangle but Lisario pushes his legs off easily.
Vindigo Muriek overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Muriek is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Lisario has a takedown stuffed.

Muriek shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Muriek was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Muriek has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Muriek is looking to take a break and control but Lisario is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Lisario seems a little lost for a moment, as Muriek dominates the positioning.

Muriek decides to stand up, so the ref orders Lisario to his feet.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Muriek fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Angel Lisario has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Vindigo Muriek is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Muriek will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Despite the aggression on Lisario's face he doesn't fully commit to the counter.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Muriek, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
