PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Elton Knapp (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Molov Briansky (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Elton Knapp!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Molov Briansky!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Blasius, Patrick Alders and Saam Ante.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Knapp will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Briansky enables Knapp to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Briansky manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Knapp working from the guard for now, landing some ground and pound.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Knapp loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

Knapp drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Knapp jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.
Knapp is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

Briansky manages to escape and get back to his feet.
Briansky avoids the clinch attempt nicely.

Briansky closes the distance and pushes Knapp back into the cage.
Briansky is trying to force a seperation but Knapp has the dominant position.
Knapp tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.

Briansky jumps guard and drags Knapp to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Knapp throws a big right hand that misses.
Knapp has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Briansky escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Knapp gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Knapp could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.

Knapp gets to his feet - Briansky follows without any prompting.

Briansky moves into the clinch.
Briansky content to slow the pace in the clinch.
Briansky gets underhooks to prevent Knapp's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Elton Knapp. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Knapp is trying to pull guard but Briansky turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Knapp is trying to push Briansky away but Briansky has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.
Knapp tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Briansky just stands there and leans against the cage.

Knapp shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Briansky tries to roll over but Knapp keeps him under control.

Briansky is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Knapp pulls his head out easily.
Knapp throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.

Briansky is staying active underneath Knapp, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Knapp is thwarting Briansky's attempts to control the position.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.

Knapp is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
Briansky flails away from the bottom but he's not doing any damage.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up. He just wasn't happy with the level of activity.

Briansky has closed the distance and engaged Knapp in a clinch.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Knapp looking for a takedown.
Knapp is trying to pull guard but Briansky has him pressed against the cage.

Knapp manages to break the clinch.
Knapp stuffs the takedown attempt from Briansky. Briansky gets slowly back to his feet.
Briansky goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.

Briansky gets to the clinch - let's see what his plan is here.
Briansky wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.
Knapp tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Briansky smiles and moves away.

Knapp looking to score a takedown here. Briansky is defending well but Knapp drives through and ends up in Briansky's guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Briansky is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Molov Briansky dominated that round.
Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin!



The fight moves into the clinch position.

Briansky pulls guard.
Knapp might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
Knapp throws an elbow that misses. Briansky uses the momentum to reverse the position. He's now in Knapp's guard. Nice move by Briansky!

Briansky's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Knapp not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Briansky slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Briansky accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Briansky wants to control from the top but Knapp keeps moving.
Knapp not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Knapp doesn't do any damage with a couple of strikes from the bottom.
Knapp looking to control.
Briansky is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.
Molov Briansky seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Briansky shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Knapp defends it nicely.
Knapp shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Briansky pinned against the cage. Briansky gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
Briansky wants to counter the offense by Knapp and move into the clinch position.

Knapp shoots for a double leg takedown but Briansky sprawls well. He's pushed Knapp's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Elton Knapp has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Molov Briansky.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Knapp.

Briansky is looking to regain half guard here but Knapp keeps moving and retains side control.

Knapp goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Briansky has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Knapp but great work by Briansky.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Briansky wants to control but Knapp is keeping him busy.
Knapp is trying to escape and get back to his feet.
Knapp throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Briansky decides to stand up, so the ref orders Knapp to his feet.
Briansky has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Briansky throws a nice looking combination but Knapp bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Molov Briansky showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!


Briansky circles away from the clinch attempt.
Knapp tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Briansky defends well and Knapp ends up having to push Briansky into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Briansky moves in looking to clinch but Knapp pushes him off.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Knapp is defended easily by Briansky.

Knapp stops a takedown attempt from Briansky.
Knapp blocks a knee to the body. He'll have a nicely bruised forearm in the morning.
Briansky gets double underhooks to prevent a takedown attempt from Knapp.
Knapp changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Briansky fights it off and pushes away nicely.
Knapp shoots in for a takedown but Briansky shows good takedown defense.

Briansky shoots in looking for a takedown but Knapp manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Briansky's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Knapp is pinned up against the cage taking some big shots here. The referee is looking closely deciding whether he should stop the fight.
Knapp is looking to clinch but Briansky is avoiding it.
Briansky blocks a head kick by Knapp.
Knapp takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Briansky shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Knapp pinned against the cage. Knapp gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Briansky lands a body shot.
Briansky lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!

Knapp fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Briansky, pushing him back against the cage.
Knapp fails to pull guard.
Briansky is trying to break free.
Knapp is trying to drag Briansky to the mat but Briansky just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Knapp tries to score a body lock takedown but Briansky shows good agility there to stay on his feet.
Elton Knapp has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Molov Briansky is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Knapp tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Briansky smiles and moves away.

Molov Briansky comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Briansky has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
