Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Brian Colt (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and El Misterioso Damballah (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters really staring each other down here, as El Misterioso Damballah enters the cage!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
4 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Brian Colt! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
5 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, El Misterioso Damballah! The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Ben Zyskovitsi and Johanna Lukiainen.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Colt swings for the body but Damballah moves out of range.
Colt dives in and scores a takedown into Damballah's guard. Colt prevents Damballah from getting back to his feet. Colt content to stall in guard here. Damballah wants to stand and escape but Colt is having none of it. Damballah is using up a lot of energy trying to get back to his feet. Perhaps he should improve his position first. Colt slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Damballah wants to stand and escape but Colt is having none of it. Colt not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Colt chips away with some ground and pound. Damballah wants to stand up but Colt is controlling him. Colt slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up. Damballah is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far. The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work. Colt showing good wrestling skills to control the position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up. Colt lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Damballah rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Colt moves out of range and avoids them all easily. It looked like Colt was trying to counter with a body shot coming off that last attack from Damballah. Damballah needs to keep his hands up - Colt had a free shot at his head there. Colt rushes Damballah and presses him up against the cage. Colt lands punches inside but they're not really causing much damage. Colt misses with a shot to the kidneys.

Colt lands a right hand that snaps the head of Damballah backwards. Damballah prevents a body shot from Colt. Damballah softening up his opponent with strikes, against the cage. Damballah swings away with an uppercut that misses.

Colt throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Damballah blocks it with crossed arms. With the fighters clinched against the cage, Colt creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut. Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd. Damballah drops down looking for an ankle pick but Colt pulls his leg out and moves away.
That's two minutes gone in the round. Some wild striking there from Damballah.
Damballah throws a series of punches but Colt moves out of range. Damballah closes the distance and lands a one-two. Colt keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
Colt connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head. Damballah misses with a combination
and Colt counters with a quick right hand to the jaw. Damballah misses with the combination.
Damballah lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Damballah. Colt darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard. Damballah felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it. Both fighters have adopted an aggressive gameplan on the ground! Colt perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Colt working Damballah over with strikes. Colt lands with a punch from half guard. The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Damballah is trying to stand up here but Colt is controlling him well. Colt not doing much here.
That's three minutes gone in the round. More hug and hope from Colt. Damballah is trying to stand.

Colt seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense. Colt drops an elbow to the side of Damballah's head.
That's four minutes gone in the round. The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight. The referee walks around the fighters to get a better view of the action. Colt lands a nice short elbow. Colt takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position. Colt winds up and cracks Damballah with a swinging punch to the side of the head. Colt is taking a breather. Damballah says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something. Colt has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent. Damballah looks like he's trying to stand up.
Still in half guard, Colt seems content to control. Damballah wants to get back to his feet.
Colt perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there. Colt lands a big shot. The thud that echoes around the arena is like music to the fans' ears. And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.
Brian Colt dominated that round. That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.
Damballah scores with a one two! Colt had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes. The crowd cheers as Colt lands an impressive looking overhand right. Damballah doesn't seem phased though. El Misterioso Damballah is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things. Colt dodges the punch combination from Damballah.
Colt tests Damballah's chin there with a solid looking shot. Damballah looks to land a combination but Colt avoids it well. Damballah misses with a jab, cross combination.
Damballah gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Colt connects with a right hand. Damballah shakes it off. The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here. Damballah fails to land with a series of punches.
Damballah throws a nice looking combination but Colt bobs and weaves to avoid any damage. Damballah drops his hands and takes a jab to the jaw for his troubles. Colt is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Damballah can do to turn this around? Nice shot by Colt. Damballah swinging wildly here.
Damballah takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Colt closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage. Damballah is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Colt is defending well. Damballah tries for a takedown but Colt manages to get underhooks.
Colt using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Damballah has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Damballah is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Colt gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt. Brian Colt has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of El Misterioso Damballah. Damballah is breathing heavily. Damballah wants to get back to striking at distance but Colt won't allow it.

I was talking to Colt's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight. Colt misses with a punch to the body.

Colt jerks Damballah's head down, straight into the path of a devastating knee! Damballah drops to the floor in a crumpled heap! Colt goes to throw a finishing haymaker but pulls out - good sportsmanship from Colt because Damballah was completely out of it. That was a nice finish - just the right level of brutality to send everyone home happy.
