Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Paul Irvin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Dion Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Paul Irvin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Dion Jones!
The judges for this bout are Francis DeMontford, Winston Howard and Damien Edna.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nice takedown defense from Jones. No joy for Irvin on that attempt.
Jones is clearly looking to counter with head kicks.
Irvin tries to close the distance and clinch up but Jones swats him away and circles back towards the center.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Irvin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Jones tries to avoid it but Irvin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Jones to the ground. Jones escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

I wouldn't like to be where Jones is right now.
Irvin will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Irvin fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Jones sprawls well initially but Irvin persists and gets the takedown into half guard.
Irvin seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Jones does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

It seemed like Jones was going to counter with the hook but didn't fully commit to it.
Dion Jones is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Irvin shoots for a double leg takedown but Jones sprawls well. He's pushed Irvin's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Irvin tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Jones paws at him with a jab and circles away.

And Jones responds with a good body kick, but Irvin manages to step out the way in time.
Irvin dives in and grabs Jones's left leg, looking for a takedown. Jones pushes down on Irvin's head and hops out.
Jones raises up his leg as if looking to counter with a high kick.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close second round but Dion Jones will probably get the nod - 10:9.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business. This is the final round!


Irvin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Jones avoids it really well and circles away.
Jones let fly with a counter punch to the body but it didn't land.

and Jones counters with a head kick that drops Irvin to the mat! Irvin scrambles across the canvas and gets back to his feet, still wobbly!

and as Irvin loses concentration momentarily, Jones counters with a picture perfect head kick! Irvin goes down, out cold! The referee rushed in to check on his condition - I'm sure he'll be ok but that was a massive knockout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:56 of round 3, we have a winner by way of KO (Head Kick). Dion Jones!
