Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division. Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner. With a record of
2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of London, Nigel Benn Jr! And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner. With a record of
10 - 16 - 0, fighting out of London, Crusher Breaker! The judges for this bout are Sam Margolis, Paul Tew and James Ackerman.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway! Breaker has a takedown stuffed. We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Breaker has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat. Benn Jr fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt. Breaker throws a fast counter high kick but Benn Jr manages to duck under it in time. Sloppy strikes from Benn Jr. Those never looked like landing. Benn Jr fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Benn Jr will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts. Benn Jr darts in and clinches Breaker up against the cage. Breaker tries to score a body lock takedown but Benn Jr shows good agility there to stay on his feet. We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up. Breaker has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Benn Jr avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch. Nigel Benn Jr has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Crusher Breaker. Breaker misses with the head strike.
Breaker is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though. Benn Jr pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat. Breaker defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Benn Jr. A little jabbing left from Breaker on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
That's one minute gone in the round. Benn Jr lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
It looks like Crusher Breaker has been cut. Breaker defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Benn Jr. Breaker is looking for the big counter here. Benn Jr looking to take his opponent's legs away with the low kicks.
Benn Jr scores with a takedown into Breaker's guard. Breaker looking for a guillotine here but Benn Jr defends easily.
Breaker looks winded! Breaker working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Benn Jr. Benn Jr has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Breaker is proving hard to escape from. Breaker is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Benn Jr has his hands clasped together but Breaker extends and breaks Benn Jr's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Breaker.
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:57 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Crusher Breaker! A victorious Crusher Breaker thanked his army of followers in his post fight interview, telling people to make sure they follow him on Twitter. Nigel Benn Jr spoke after the fight, saying 'ill be back'.
