The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rod will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.

Rod is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Carey is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.

Rod looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.

Rod has his foot on Carey's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Carey works his way back into a safe position though.
Rod can't keep his opponent in guard - Carey advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Carey looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Carey is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Rod is just riding it out for now. Carey eventually gives up the hold.

Rod shoots in looking for a takedown but Carey manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Rod's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
